what is this connector for, optional car phone?
I'd never seen this little connector until pulling out the power antenna to replace the broken mast. The wire was tucked under the plastic drain/vent box in the wheel well. It looks like it was wired in from the factory alongside the antenna [reception] cable, but it doesn't look like a very OEM connector. Is it some abandoned aftermarket amp hookup, or is it for a factory option like the old car phone? I haven't traced it back yet into the cabin to see where it goes.
Edit: It's a quasi-RCA/coax looking thing that doesn't really match anything I'm familiar with.

I know a guy that dismantles SCs specifically and I remember him telling me that the wiring/cable and the transceiver for the phone ends up next to the antenna. I'm pretty sure that wire in specific relates to the first pic in post 9 of this thread. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...300-trunk.html

Nice find, that definitely looks like it would match the connector. Car phone was really the only thing that made sense, for the reason you mentioned. Next time I have the back seats out, I'll pull it through and see if I can follow what it connects to. It'll probably disappear into a common harness somewhere...

No, there's no indication that my car ever had the factory phone -- no window antenna, no steering wheel controls, no mount on the dash or center console, and an empty fuse holder -- which is why I was surprised to find a cable that seems like it could have only been for that.
