Intro - New owner of a 1993 SC300 78k miles
So I came across this car by accident. Figured it was worth it to buy and flip. Talking to the owner it stayed in the family for 3 owners until I bought it. Some of the problems it had according to the owner was the following:
- Paint is bad
- Rough idle
- Blows out blue that smells of gasoline
- Needs state inspection
- Needs tires (won't pass inspection)
At $4500 I couldn't pass it up. I bought the car without even looking at it. tow truck picked her up, drove south 2 hours and dropped her off. took a lunch break for initial inspection then joined the forums lol.
After joining the forums, reading all the threads, the car kinda grew on me. I started looking for wheels, 97+ OEM bumpers, lol you name it! I'm still not 100% sure I'll keep it, but I do want to get it running right. I'll be doing the ECU rebuild, remove/replace windown tint, getting new tires then that VA state inspection. Then we'll see after that ... to be continued ... Thanks! -Carlo

Popped the hood and it looked great!

Original '93 5 speed.... good find..... Might have been a bit steep on the price depending on the condition (even though the mileage is relatively low) overall.....
Good luck..... {Post lots of pics of your progress.... )

If you have not figured this out yet, 5 speed is probably the most desirable option on these cars at this point! If you get it running good for $500 or so, you scored nicely, despite the issues. Keep it and perhaps turbo it. This motor is amazing and holds sick power if built up right!
Good luck!

I think the paint is salvageable after showing to some local friends of mine. they say to try and wash it really well, clay bar it, then polish/wax with a buffer. the surface is smooth so i don't think the clear is damage. just needs some rejuvenation.

That's a little steep, but maybe... hopefully the SC market is turning around and you're the first harbinger of thus.
Glad to have you aboard though, and nice to see you working on it already, the more you dive into these cars the more parts magically appear at your door and the more money magically disappears from your wallet, but it's a great feeling.

I've got a boosted S2000 that I stopped tinkering with a couple years back. So picking up this SC300 is bringing me back some good memories. I think i only put 1000miles on her in 2013 lol. Sad I know. But wife said I could keep it since it's paid off after having our first kid. Now we have two kids.
