Default Think I found the 1JZ I will use

There's a local'ish guy about 45 minutes away that had a 1JZ for sale in a Facebook group and went to check it out yesterday. It's a rear sump motor that was in his SC300 for a little while, with videos of it running on his Facebook. He compression checked it before he pulled it about 3-4 months ago and they ran 180, give or take a few psi, across the board. It comes with the auto and an ECU but no wiring, but I did find a guy selling a Soarer harness in good shape that is for an auto car.

Anyways, it also comes with 2 Driftmotion braced exhaust manifolds, one is ceramic coated, and a set of polished, or the standard black valve covers, as well as Driftmotion underdrive pulleys. It does have some gunk on the motor like any used engine from old leaky gaskets. I was able to spin the engine over by hand by applying my kung fu grip to the crank pulley. Probably would have been way easier putting a socket and breaker bar on the crank bolt though. The belt looked to be in great shape, but obviously I'm just going to replace it anyways for cheap insurance.

For $1000, I don't think it's a bad deal at all, just needing a few items here and there, and a turbo of my choice. I think with some new gaskets (oil pan, valve cover, rear main, front main, cam seals) and a timing belt/water pump job, it'll be good as new and ready to melt tires on my SC300.

This is bittersweet man.. The motor is a decent deal but the harness is going to be pricey, like hundreds of dollars. If you are willing to order one you can get them on fleabayyy for less than 1500 shipped with the harness, turbos, ignitor etc. Especially if you're going to replace the gaskets and belts anyway. This guy offering any kind of warranty/guarantee at all?

The harness is $325 shipped, and I wouldn't use stock turbos anyways so it doesn't matter that it doesn't have stock turbos. I figure once all things are considered, they're on equal levels as a JDM motor, but at least I got to go see this one.

Looks like a good deal! Harness is all you would need. If you are comfy w/ wirirng extension and patience it will be cake to get everything working. Good luck

Went down there again yesterday, was going to buy it but he wasn't there, his dad was. I was going to swap out the valve covers, and the exhaust manifold with the ceramic coated one but was having trouble getting at some of the bolts and it was taking longer than I thought so I had to leave because I had other stuff to do.

I did swap the valve covers out and the cams look good, no burn marks or anything like that and the little bit of oil that's left in there was clean looking, no sludge or grime build up.
