Default Is this an R154?

I don't know the transmissions just by looking at them, just curious if you guys could give me a quick yes or no. Thinking about going to buy it tomorrow to start my collection for the 1JZ/R154 conversion.

Also, is $1200 a fair price for it with 109k on it?

1200 for just the transmission? Lol no way in hell is it worth that. Unless it comes with pedals, driveshaft, etc.

Soarer R154s go for UP TO $~1000 but thats no bargain.

With the MK3 the shifter will be i the wrong spot. $500 would be a good deal for one of those.

^^ I have seen Soarer R154's go for a bit more than $1k. *Built* R154's are definitely up there a bit more. $1200 seems a bit high for an MKIII R154 even with only 109k. I bought my MKIII R154 with 111k for $850. I was able to see the nearly stock '89 Turbo it came from and verify the odometer myself. $500 might be for significantly higher mileage.

There is nothing wrong with an MKIII R154 but it does need a 1JZ bell housing, extended shifter, Marlin Crawler VSS adaptor and a custom trans mount and crossmember solution (several approaches for achieving that).

Oh, I thought it only needed the bell housing and shifter, hadn't researched it too much but wasn't aware it needed different crossmember/mounting goodies. Oh well, I'll use the bit of it being an MK3 unit to my advantage next time I come across one that isn't a Soarer unit. Thanks for the info.

^^ Sure. It's a good transmission and internally the same as a Soarer R154 other than the synchros and bearings in the later Soarer/Chaser "tripod" versions. The Soarer/Chaser versions just need less changed to get them bolted in.
