^^ You'd probably have to unbolt one of the stock metal pipes on the front turbo (at least) to expose the impeller blades to check for shaft play.
The W58 transmission's lifespan will depend on how it was driven. Hopefully it was not a swap using an MKIII W58 transmission (much weaker).
Overall it looks good.

Nice sleeper. As you have probably already found out it is generally much cheaper to buy one already modified then it is to do it yourself. I hate to say this but I think your're doing the right thing low balling him because there are probably a VERY limited number of buyers for this vehicle. I like all of the maintenance that has been done as well. Good luck and great find.

Nice looking car and it's probably worth the $5-6K investment you're going to make. But you know how it goes....get the car home, find out all of the bushings are shot, then the windows don't roll up and down, then the subframe is rusted, then it needs a complete brake job, and the AC doesn't work, then you find out in the winter that the heat doesn't work, then the MAF qoes squirrely and the car shuts off at every stop light... etc... etc....etc. Ughhh exhausting thinking about all of that work lol. Great looking car for the money though and the twins can be swapped for a single turbo down the road
