Default 92 SC bumper with 97 grill insert

Has anyone taken the 97 Style grill and has incorporated it into a 92 front bumper....Just curious to see what it would look like....Obviously it would have to be molded into bumper to make it look right...

I imagine it would look something like the Wald bumper though not as nice.

CrispyST3 - One does not simply obtain a WALD EXCHANGE EX Line bumper. Thanks to the 97+ styled sheep. Anything related to 92-96 form is near extinct, or super rare.

The grille would be too large on a regular 92-96 front end. The 97+ is about 1.5 inch wider.

I really dont like the fake grill on the SC's tho. Considered removing it or blacking it out but then it would look out of place just removed.

Would be different if it really did what grils are supposed to do.

Your bumper cover is just for Looks anyways - so are sideskirts, and wheels.. but you do it for the LOOK - so how is that any different for grills ?

It's funny, I found myself agreeing with Joey-E, then totally changing my mind after soarer93's response. Suddenly, I'm looking at fake hood scoops in a different light, too.

Its a big difference you cant compare wheels and sideskirts to fake grills. Although its for appearance the difference is fake grilles gives off an impersonation that its actually doing something when its not, same thing goes for fake scoops, roof scoops and anything else fake. Do wheels, lips, oem wings air inlets on the front bumper for your radiator, intake, and brakes do that? No they actually serve a purpose even if its small.

doesn't the grill let area into the front bumper area or does it not let air through at all?
If it even lets some air into the bumper area that is always good for those of us with intercoolers.

Yes that is my exact thinking for adding the grill to allow more air flow

No I don't have a 97 front and have never held the grill that's why I phrased it as a question.
that seems dumb if its just closed in the back. Can't you just trim out the back plastic piece and make it "functional"
I have done much harder projects with a dremel in like 10 minutes. I need to get one of those grills to see I guess.

only thing I can think of is if the crash bar is directly behind that spot or not, then it would get in the way but I think its clear behind there towards the top I will have to take a look at the car to see.

I see, well the grille itself is open but where it leads too is just plastic covering and no air is being directed towards the radiator. The sides are open tho maybe that will direct some air towards the intake and on the drivers side transmisson oil cooler. I believe the pre 97+ fronts are the same with that plastic covering except without the hole for the grille.
