alternative antennas?
my antenna wasn't working and the motor was getting really annoyingly loud and making all these noises whenever i turn the radio on and off and start the car and so on. so i took everything out, motor, antenna everything, now i just have a hole there taped from the inside.
my question is what have you guys used for alternative antennas? i found a few on ebay for like 15 bucks that seem to just stick onto wherever you wanna put it. i was gonna stick it in the roof lining in the back of the car, or the trunk lid. and an unrelated question. i should probably get the hole welded and not fill it myself with fiberglass right?

I have an aftermarket power antenna on mine that looks / fits and works great. IIRC it has a pair of rubber boots that contour to the body lines for a good seal. It was on the car when I bought it so im not sure of the brand but it wasnt working so I had to wire it up. some of the audio posts here from years back should have good info. i think the other popular way to go is a S2000 antenna.
if you're going to shave it, weld it up is the right way to do it.

People still listen to the radio?!
The thing I don't like about the S2000 and MDX antennas is that it comes out at a weird angle. I disconnected mine and wired in an aux port so I don't have to listen to a million kesha songs followed by how I'm paying too much for auto insurance.

i just kept the stock antenna and unplugged the motor. pushed the antenna all the way down. i dont listen to radio either but when i do i dont generally have any issues. looks fine, no noise, and costs about 2 mins of your time. gonna be repainting my car in the winter most likely so at that point i will be shaving off the antenna and having the hole filled and closed and will probably buy one of the dash or interior antennas.
