Default Automatic Air Surging High - Low

This one of many little things that have been happening. I have a 1995 SC 400 with 172K. Engine runs great. The air conditioning when I turn it on auto will be quiet then go full blast and will stay that way for quite a while then drop to a low blower for 15 -20 seconds and then back on high. Back and forth over and over.

The fan control does nothing when pushed up or down on fan speed. It's inop.

Can not find Cabin air filter either. Heard it's way up under the glove box. Unsure....

That unit I'm sure is really expensive through Lexus.. Any thoughts?????

My Laser's on my gauges are out as well. Tach completely and speedometer half way.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you...

Cabin Air Filter is just above passengers feet. Pop the lower panel off then you'll have to remove two screws if I remember correctly and slide it out. That info can be found on here.

Your dash lights being out...check LexTech.org they fix the stuff and give lifetime guarantee. You can also customize it to your liking.

Sounds like your AC unit is on the fritz. The buttons don't work correctly... You're getting air so your blower is good, it's cold so your compressor is good, I'd look for a good used A/C unit to swap in for the old one. Try junkyards.

I think all US models have no filter in the cabin air filter slot, but maybe it's only certain years? I know mine doesn't have one.

When you change fan speed on the HVAC unit, does the indicator of fan speed (number of bars) change? I had a spare unit in for awhile that would change the indicator but not actually control the fan speed. I figure there are some differences between years. Maybe your's was swapped out at some point?

Contact Tanin for your gauge needles, and HVAC if needed.

I think just 92-94 doesn't have the cabin filter and 95+ does.

I will check the air filter under the glove box.. Thanks.

The fan indicator does show bars up and down but does not change the fan speed.

Thanks for the tips on the indicator needles. I guess after 19 years , stuff has finally reached it's time not to work anymore. I love the car.
