Default DRL's for early model SC's

Has anybody been successful installing a DRL kit in our high beams that has worked?

I've looked at a couple of companies and it doesn't seem like it would be that difficult.

I personally had issues getting the highbeam bulbs to turn OFFwhen the main bulbs were turned on either by hand, or with the AutoLight function. also they seemed to not turn off with the car when the autlight function was on -
I just instead used the marker bulbs (194 bulb) in the headlight instead - maybe I was setting it up wrong, maybe its the sophistication of the Headlight system with auto lights.. ionno but everything works with the peanut bulbs I just couldn't get it working right with the 9005 bulbs.. meh. maybe cuz they were not intended to be dual purpose..

im sure someone on here made something work

Are you wanting the high beams to come on separately? If so you can wire in another switch and inline fuse to control them independently from the headlight stalk. You'll just have to remember to turn them off when you turn the car off. That or if you really want to get intricate with it you can use a relay as well tapped into a power source that only comes on when the car is running to throw the pole on the relay so then the switch will work. That way you don't have to worry about accidentally leaving them on and killing the battery.

Is a 9005 halogen bulb brighter than a 9005 LED bulb? I can buy a DRL kit that will work with the 9005 LED bulb and this will be a simple process. I can keep high beams but they may not be very bright. I don't use them anyway. Here is what I'm talking about.

I think the way the LED 9005 bulbs are set up with there wiring harness they have it actually has another
pigtail that could be used to turn them on without having to buy the module up front. I think a basic relay
energized with ignition wire would work fine.

I think this set up would work well.

I wired in those fake Angel eyes around my projector as well as a 1156 LED (19 leds) where the stock 194 goes. What I've noticed is even tho I turn car off they stay on till I open my door, which can drain the battery (along with 3000 watts of amps can be a big deal) All I did was run a relay off the cig lighter circuit. Basically they are always on. Now if you do get a set of LED high beans look around for a dual circuitt, one that lights half the light (or in the Cree styl half dim) and has a third wire for full bright. I think superbrightleds has them. Shouldn't be too hard. You will need to run two relays tho, one off your switche source and another to your head lights on the 87a pin. What that does is disconnects the circuit when head lights turn on.

Hope that helps

well teh sc lights always stay on unless you open the door once the car is off.. soo not sure what the issue is there. run them to the 194 lights in the headlight that way they come on when those do, in the highbeam.. i have highbeams from a 2000 sc i never noticed, but they should have an led in the high beam or no? if you want a light or something to come on when the lights do but want it to turn off if the car is off, then you can use two relays one triggered by the main efi, the second triggered off the 194s that way when the car is one and the 194 is on the dtrl will come on but once the car is off regardless of door being opened or not the light will turn off. but if the regular lights dont turn off unless the door is opened after the car has been turned off then thats pointless.. when does anyone not open the door to get out of the car? lol you climb out the window?

Lol point taken however I have to unseat my kiddos in the back. It is way easier to turn and do such as they can climb out on their own. And on rainy days well even more so. As a side note mine is a 92 my lights are only on with the switch as we didn't have an auto or fogs. My fogs are yellow rectangles under the bumper. At first I was gonna convert my corners to fogs but then discovered that I love the cornering lights.

anyone succeed with error free LED DRL/high beams retro fit ? and with the use of a wiring decoder ?

i tried replacing my 9005 bulbs for led bulbs but only the high beam function works
the wire decoders i see are for canbus and as far as i know my 92 doesn't have that

tried this on my 92 sc400 CDM spec , not working

HB3 LED Decoder Resistor Canbus Wire Harness Adapter DC12V for LED Headlight Fog DRL Lamp Bulb

dunno why but when i installed the second light they stop working , i tried it without the resistors but only the highbeam will work
tried a install with 1 resistor , fail
tried a install with 2 resistors , fail
tried without resistors , fail

the reason why i want this mod is that i have a HID retrofit with LED cornerlights and want the same colors

so my halogen hb3 are back in

The drl voltage probaby is too low to fire the 9005 leds?
You might only be able to run them in high beam mode.
Maybe they make a kit with "bi" capablity
