Default good price for gte head.

Trying to get an average price of a gte head with cams without an intake or exhaust. Wondering if its worth the extra time hunting for parts.

Well, whether it is worth it to you or not depends on what you need it to accomplish. My goal was emissions legality first and horsepower second.

I recently bought a USDM 2JZGTE (EGR) head disassembled with throwaway valves and springs for $650. It needs everything: hot tank cleaning, new parts and a full rebuild. US TT cams I picked up for $150 or so and a set of used GTE valve covers that need cleaning and a repaint ran me $250.

An Aristo GTE head would probably be cheaper in the same condition. A built 2JZGTE head can run around $1500 give or take.

You can do a lot with your GE head if you aren't concerned about emissions.

Don't forget that you need to change many things on the lower block to make a GTE head work, primarily to do with the ignition system. The oil pump has to be exchanged for a 2JZ-GE VVT-i pump with a crank signal trigger port for non-oil squirter blocks or a 2JZGTE oil pump if you have a GTE block with oil squirters.

It's worth it hunting down parts if it fits the type of build you want to achieve. The GTE vs NA-T debate is huge.

I have seen just plain used aristo heads go for the $500 range.
Kahn is right about telling you about the oil pump, you will need to change that and its not a small job.
If you are tearing down the motor anyways then putting the new oil pump on and gte head then its very doable.

maybe I am off and it is a little higher but I thought with stock stuff or a bare head it was around that price. all the usdm stuff is more expensive for sure but the jdm cams are basically giveaways on those heads.
