Default burning plastic smell!!??

I have a 97sc300 with 142k, i am smelling a burning plastic smell in front of the car, i dont know what could be the potential problem. i was advised to check crank pully by pressing on the gas and seeing if there is any seperation from the pully and the bolt, but everything looks aligned and nothing moves, the pully just goes faster due to the fact the gas is being pressed.

so what could be the problem?? why the burning smell? i say plastic because that what the smell is similar too

You probably just got a grocery bag stuck on your exhaust manifold pipe.

I had something similar happen to me. I had a McDouble wrapper melting on my cat.

For me, it was toasted, shot breaks and a sticky caliper. Smell the wheel well after a good drive.

you might want to check your fuse box. it could be a short in your fan or climate circuit. i suggest not driving until you find this problem out it could be dangerous. We don't want to lose another Sc from a fire....

Also make sure no stray lines/plastic have made their way to the manifold. Otherwise, it's just trash hung up...
