Thanks. I think I got a sweetheart of a ride here.
The person I bought it from was the second owner, and is an automobile repair instructor at the local vocational school. Before that he was a Cadillac tech at a local dealer (that happened to be run for many years by the father of a friend of mine).
The car came with a complete history of all service - all done by two Lexus dealers - one in AZ, and one here in MA. The service records, original window sticker, 8x10 glossies of the car when he got it, and just before I got were included in a leather binder. During the test drive, he showed me where he had it detailed 4x / year, and the package that he got (he had a brochure), along with who I should talk to there. Additionally, I was given the names of the tech that handles this particular car at the local Lexus dealer, as well as his manager.
Knowing that I don't have a garage for it, he also had a recommended car cover that works well to fend off various tree debris that we get here in the Northeast. (as well as a pair of license plate frames that he thought were of particularly good quality).
Once we were finished with the test drive, I got a complete walkthrough of the car, including things like how to fill in the 12 CD changer.
Finally, when I came to pick up the car after purchase, he had it warmed up and ready to go, put my plates on for me, and presented me with a leather bound copy of "The History of Lexus".
His wife had to hug the car before I took it away - apparently they had some great memories touring the backroads of New England in this car.
I should not have been surprised, but my wife is thrilled with the purchase - she had handed down her 2002 Acura TL-S to the kids a couple years back and has been driving a Honda CRV.
She wants her Acura back now.

Congratulations! You and your wife will be happy with this car! You'll find it is highly versatile.
I always recommend this but for safety's sake (depending on your driving style) do look up the upgrade to 95-99 LS400 front brake calipers. It brings a more modern "Lexus" dimension of stopping power to the car with OEM parts.
It really sounds like you found a well cared for example. Enjoy!

Congrats on your SC400! Sounds like a gem. Fabulous color BTW! Lexus pulled out all the stops when engineering these cars....heck, just read their book that you now have and you will "understand". They are fabulous GT cars, highly engineered and over built, with a build quality that is to a much higher standard than many luxury cars currently being made/sold today. EVERYTHING you need to know is on this forum to help you keep your "jewel" on the road, looking and performing great for many years to come. Welcome and lets see some pics!
