Wuddup y'all was looking at a '93 SC300 it has 190000 miles on it currently. He says it needs a power steering pump and brakes three rims and a donut on it as well and the brake light stay on and it needs brakes as well. The body is fair as well as the interior. He Was asking 1300 for it but was able to get him down to 900-1000 because of the condition. Is it worth purchasing or should I wait and find something better. it does run and drive it just needs those items. Any advice would be helpful, thanx guys HELP!!!!

what's the kbb and nada values in your area for private sale?
I suspect some will say it's a rip, but a good looking early SC with good interior is hard to come by.
if it looks like a thousand dollar car, you may consider talking down a bit more, but if it looks nice, do it.

I've been quoted 2900-4000 on kbb and nada values. I also seen a local dealership selling one as well, awaiting a response. It was a SC400 with 197,000 miles. will update when I get more info on it.

I'd buy it for sure!! You can get the brakes fixed very cheap and emay be even upgrade them while you're at it,
And wheels you are everywhere!

I would never pass a running and driving SC for that price. Offer him 800 and see what he says. All he can do is go up on price.

Are you handy enough to fix the issues yourself? otherwise might be better off finding one in better condition. a little more up front cost but you end up with a nicer car and less chance of a money sink. If it's just going to be a toy go for it and do like 1JZ said, low ball it and see what you can come up with.

if he said ok to 1000 or 900 go there with 800 in your pocket, and a 100 bill in two other different pockets. take out the 800 bucks and say 800 right now. if he says 9 take out the other 100.. lol cash in front of people makes them not think.. lol

I've had my chances to jump on $800-1000 SC's and I always pass. Maybe it's cause I already own one and don't want the headache of a second. But I always regret not getting one at a good deal to flip down the road. Brakes and wheels will be cheap to replace. I'd really look into the bigger problem areas like the rack and pinion, ball joints, and starter on a SC4. Those will be your biggest expenses. The rest is pretty easy to fix on these cars.

Buy it! if it turns out to be bad use it for spare parts on a better condition SC or just flip it for a nice profit

yea i can fix the issues with the car. Its gonna be a DD for me and a bit of project at the same time. Im currently in school studying to be an automotive tech and in the toyota program my school offers. i appreciate all the advice and info everyone is giving me. its much help and informative. thanks everyone who responded!!!

Buy it! As others have stated...offer up 800, and be prepared to pay 1000 if he doesn't jump at the offer? And since you're in automotive class, you could bring in your SC and work on it, plus the instructors can also assist? Additionally, you will have access to the paint and body class-you may be able to work something out there too? Check out the parts in the classifieds you could a possibly score big? Either way, keep us posted. And post up some pics, after your purchase?
