Slide,

Are you sending it to the guy located in GA? If so, I know him personally. His name is Darryl, and he's a great, knowledgeable, and very helpful guy. He's the one that helped me clear up my hesitation issues last weekend. He even swapped in a new TPS and adjusted it with a multi-meter and feeler gauge for free.

He rebuilt my ECU about two months ago. I thought it may have been my hesitation culprit, but it wasn't. Regardless, he opened mine up in front of me and showed me where one or two capacitors had started to turn. For the lifetime warranty and piece of mind, I had him do the work anyway.

If it's the same guy, tell him G.A. sent you. Maybe he'll give me a break on some parts in the future!

It is the place in Georgia and Darrel is the person Slide used. I will be sending my broken ECU to him soon......

Finding skilled, knowledgeable craftsman that can repair the rare SC parts are a benefit to all of us trying to extend the life of these platforms.

Darryl is his name. He was very knowledgable and told me what was caused by the ECU and what wasn't. He was 100% right on. You should let him know about Club Lexus, maybe he can become a vendor. A person with that knowledge needs to be apart of this community!

He knows of CL. We've discussed it before. Per Darryl, "there's some good information on there, then there's some really terrible information..."

I was definitely happy to find him. Only did by chance, finding a FS ad for some parts on the local craigslist.

I actually have to agree on that. For awhile there every other SC thread was answered with "The infamous Fuel pump ECU 12v mod" lol.

I fell victim to that as well. I did it last weekend hoping my issues would be solved. Darryl had been suggesting the ECU or coils, but lots of info here pointed towards the fuel pump ECU.

Now I'm debating if I should set the FPECU back or leave it.

Where are you located at?

Those original capacitors are specially made for automobile industries by Nichicon. Those are low ESR capacitors and also work well at extremely cold locations on Earth. But the liquid inside prone to leak when aged and causes corrosions also the car doesn't run well. You'd better to replace them before that. Most of re-builders don't know the fact. You'd be better read the thread below first.

Received my ECU back from Darryl this past week. Might be a while before I can judge the results since this is now the "backup".

The others that have used him to rebuild their ECUs are quite pleased so I have a lot of confidence that I will be able to rely upon the part when it's needed....

Vouche for the eBay service that SC400slide used. I talked to the guy for quite awhile on the phone, he replaced them with high grade caps, and he tested my unit on an SC that he has at his location before sending it out, to insure it works properly.

He was Darryl from GA.

Great Guy!
