Ok guys im sure this has been covered many of times and im just over looking it. But what do the guys with odb2 do when its time for inspection and you/re running aemv1/v2 infinity or any other stand alone ecu? im very curious to what to do with my sc i live in nc and i have a 97 scna-t and not 100 percent sure as to how to keep it registered.

Not happening with a standalone. Register in a non-emissions county, or revert enough parts to run a stock ecu at inspection time. Obdii is a pita. Or, swap all your goodies to an obdi shell

Unless you know a guy, that knows a guy, and you know a guy, who owns a similar stock SC and will run an emissions test under the radar for you, it's not going to happen.

i know guys that do emissions test that would do that for me but i dont know any one with a stock 97 sc. i got friends in counties that dont do emissions and i think i might just slip them some extra month and register my car at their house so i can continue to drive this thing. If not then the next option is to swap chassis. what a big headache. none of this crossed my mind when i continued to do work on the sc. Thanks for the help guys. Greatly appreciate it.

yes, this was my dilemma when i decided to go NA-T with my 97. I have to pass emissions in Chicago, so I decided to run the usdm obdii supra tt ecu. I'm up for emissions by end of next month, and theoretically the car should pass because i have no CEL on, but the car is just not running right yet. Check out the TT ECU thread. This may be the only way (besides piggyback) that you will be able to pass emissions

Well right now I'm running stock 2jzge ECU with aem fic piggy back. The only codes I have now are o2 sensor and transmission code since I swapped the auto out for a r154. I can fix the o2 with no problem but would the transmission codes keep it from passing? If not than I got a buddy that lives in a county that doesn't do emissions just safety and I'll just register my car at his house... Maybe that sounds easier than it really is lol. But since the fic is preventing me from making any more power safely and I've been haveing problems with it I was just going to swap it out for aem infinity

Set wastegate for atmo, and lean out your fuel curve. That's a start, you will need to address the SES lights prior so maybe some sims for the o2s. Transmission codes will not fail you on a obd2 scan. Hope that helps

The FIC6 still lets you keep OBDII functionality. As far as the trans code, i really dont know any way around that

Great! Thanks for all the help guys. Dream36, thanks that really helped. All the info helped me out a lot. I just need to make it through this inspection and for the next couple years I'll figure something permantly out

all you can do is if you know the name of a county in your state that does not require emissions testing just open up a po box at a local post office there or you can even pen one online and when you register the car at the dmv just register it under that po box and not you actual address. that will solve all of your emissions problems. been doing it for years when I lived in Illinois. and its super cheap like less than $50/year I think
