To the SC enthusiast it is.

Personally I'd baby it in its stock form but I would not be opposed to a TT suspension and some tasteful wheels.

i would drop it on some coilovers, trd or whiteline sway bars, ls400 bbk, exhaust, new wheels, double din navi, a sound system and call it a day.

I would dry carbon the crap out of it. Get a nice set of volks. Bride seats. Ceramic coated headers with true dual exhaust and a dapper x-pipe combo hks carbon ti. Coilovers. Clean up the engine bay. CAI. Clean up the interior with nuluxe or suede. Then drown in all the credit card bills . . .

some nice wheels is always tastefull and isn't anything to worry about if you keep the stock wheels.
If I had to do any major mods I would r154 swap it and it would be loads of fun.

I would mod lower it, put nice wheels on, and maybe change out the stereo/speakers.

I've had two 99's (not as rare, but still only 905 made), and still exactly the same car.

My first one was completely stock (180k).

The one I have now (only 78k) is lowered on Megan EZ's, Titan sways, TT wheels, RX wheel, front strut bar (looking into a rear strut bar), BFI, TT LSD, pre 97 wing (which I actually dont like, prefer the 97+ one), and a full custom exhaust including headers. This car is 100x more fun than my stock one, and in my opinion close to a perfect car. It still looks relatively stock, xcept for the few tasteful mods. I'm looking into more extensive mods such as a W58 (or R154 if I can find someone whose done it before and can guide me through it), and definitely a tune afterwards.

Essentially what you do (or dont do) to the car really depends on what your idea of perfecting the car would be. For some people the RX wheel is not for them, nor is a stiffer ride with sways and coils. Its completely up to you. Good thing with all my mods is that it can ALL be returned to stock if need be. Stuff like rolling/cutting/pulling the quarters would not be reversible.

Thanks for the feed back everyone. I appreciate it. Think I may tint the windows 35% to help preserve the leather. Yeah its pretty much the same as the 1999 but they added some evap mechanism. To the gentlemen who said it's not a collectable. He's correct but it very well can be. I have drove some pretty nice luxury cars and I couldn't find one that suited me like this 13 year old SC400. Most of us know the build quality is still far more superior than most 100k cars today. Just dated.

I'd put on wheels from the new IS F sports and that's about it. Wheels are easily interchangeable, if you leave it too original then your fellow Lexus buddies will think you're some rich white dude in his 70s who bought the car brand new 13 years ago. That's what comes to mind when I see bone stock original 97+ Sc, but they're very sexy.

Tint, coilovers, wheels, BBK, resonator delete, bfi, double din, hid lows and fogs, and proper maintenance.

I would swap it to a 5spd and swap a LSD diff in it....that would then be a fun car.

For a time, I was happy just to have landed a one owner 2000 SC400 with only 48.5k miles. But eventually, the small factory wheels and the lack of choices for tires on those stock wheels had me upgrading them. Also installed the lowering springs/shocks myself to close the gap. And that brings it to perfection in my eyes. Don't really have to do many mods to make it shine.



Now it sits on a set of 350Z wheels as I wanted a little more aggressive looking wheels. But I still have my stock set of wheels should I keep this car into my geriatric years and want the spongy comfort of 55 series tires. LOL

As someone else mentioned, it's no collectors car so have fun with it. I myself prefer the stock body with a few nice upgrades here n there.
