Thinking about putting 3k yellow fogs in my 97 sc300. Is it direct plug and play or would i need to do some modification of some sort? Also.. should I get 35w or 55w..? I have 55w 5000k already on low beams..just don't know if it may be too blinding.

i dont know anything about the weather in tx except that its hot.
im assuming you dont ever see fog? the point of fogs is to be of a low wattage... more light = more refraction = less visibility, i think thats what the theory is.
but ****, if you dont have any fog, you can up the watts. and again if my thinking is correct, the way fogs are 'pointed' they wont be blinding to oncoming traffic.

I just tinted mine with yellow tint and they look amazing and costs alot less than HIDs.

Heres my 97 with an es300 projectors swapped in, not the easiest project but there really bright and only 21watts currently. Also 35W 5000k up top.

I have done yellow hid's on the 95 fogs it is a bit blinding and very bright, almost like a white yellow that is hard to look at, but with the hid headlights it really lights up the road.
yellow bulbs or LED's have the same effect but with less of the very very bright fog light action.

Yep, Texas is hot and definitly not alot of fog at all... maybe on cloudy gloomy rainy days or late at night with humidity. Okay cool.. my goal for the fogs is just for the looks not to help me see in fog and as long as it's not blinding others too badly or blinding me somehow while looking at the road.

I don't really want to tint them yellow, I was never really a fan of yellow tint.

As long as it looks nice and noticeable shine, it should be fine. I never tried actual bulbs or leds.. I have always been hid kind of person but never had fogs before.

I completely forgot that 55w washes out the yellowness hhaa. That makes my decision alot easier lol. What I mainly need to figure out now is if i need to make any modifications in the stock 97 fogs or not :P

And just a little advice. Though it's tempting to ziptie a HID fog ballast to your crash bar, don't do it. If the ballast ever stops functioning for any reason, you have to remove the entire bumper to replace it. Don't ask how I know and why my fogs haven't worked in over a year, just don't do it.

Thanks for the heads up! I still have yet to figure out where to mount the ballasts... do you have a suggestion to where else I could mount it?

I say 5000k and 55 watt. I have 6k on low beams that are 55 watts and have 55 watt 5k on fogs. I love it. Just right to me. I used Kensun brand from Amazon. Good luck on your choice.

The interior housing had ot be modified for mine, you might want to look into yellow lexus capsules. There are apparently one of the best yellows.

If you buy the proper bulbs or hids you need no modification.

thanks for your suggestion, it looks reliable lol.. I was planning to go ddm.. 55w might be overkill. I want a good yellow color but prefer it not to be washed out too much


I searched up some pictures I think i need to cut through the plastic part so dust doesn't get in and so the wires can run right through it. I would look into more alternatives but prefer not spending more money than I need to. If it's a simple modification, that will be sufficient enough.

The capsules are cheap if you can find them in the right place, otherwise 20-40 bucks for some bulbs or cheap hids.
