Default I'm Disappointed But My Fault For Hopes.

I ordered a bumper from ExtremeDimensions. I guess I don't have to say more given the fact that NUMEROUS people dislike the quality of the products they sell. But I had hope it was not completely true. Unfortunately, I'm out almost $300. I wish I can return it but the cost to ship it back would make it pointless and cost me more. So now I'm going to buy the real deal, legit AUTHENTIC Vertex bumper which is about $1300 with shipping, plus the cost to install and paint.

I am disappointed.

The $300 wasted could have gone towards the legit Vertex bumper.

Don't make the same mistake I did. I took a chance and found out the hard way.

I don't want to throw this $300 bumper away, but I don't want to sell it off either. But what choice do I have with it?

To mention, the bumper I had on my Lexi before was a knock off Vertex. I think it's called the Vortex which didn't fit 100% either but more decent than what this DuraFlex bumper would've been.

Also, reason why I had hoped this cheap bumper would fit is because I was thinking ahead. What if the bumper gets damaged again? A damaged $300 bumper versus a damaged $1100 bumper...... So I emailed Vertex USA and here's the email:

people ask why we don't use poly urethane, the reason why is because it's
really heavy and wraps in the sun. Our product is light and will not warp
in the sun.

Rest assured that our product is always repairable. We have many drift cars
that get damaged from hitting the walls, etc. We used the same body kit for
years because all the pieces were always there ready for repair, again, it
does not shatter like regular fiberglass.

The fitment is great as we are the Authentic product. Knock offs never fit
because they are making a mold of our kit. It will always be too big or too
small. Our kit will be pre drilled for ease of installation.

There are no returns on our product as we bring these over from Japan. Once
it's sold another one is hand made to get shipped over from Japan.
Therefore, we do not offer returns. You can do your own research on Vertex
products and you will see that our product is very good.

Thank you.

.......that fitment is HORRIBLE!

Hopefully ED can help you out since they are a vendor on here. I can understand some imperfections but that fitment is just wrong!

Not sure why you went ahead and got this after being advised about them.

Sell it to some one whos new to SCs/ex 240 owners, into drifting and make homedepot lips and all that nonsense im sure they wouldnt care about fitment.

I believe if you send it back they tell you to break it into small pieces. Won't get killed on shipping when the box is smaller. Send it back, Extreme Dimensions needs to step their game up or stop selling this stuff.

Resist the "gotta' have it now" impulse for any replica product. Save up, buy authentic, and you'll be much happier. Remember, it takes as much labor dollars to make things fit to offset any perceived savings when buying replicas.

That will require some extreme body work but I wouldn't lose all faith. A lot of sanding, grinding, body filler, hacking, smoothing, etc you can get it to fit with a ton of work.

But then again you'll probably crack it on day two so is it really worth it? Hang it on the wall of your garage as a reminder not to buy replica products.

That still looks doable if you are willing to modify it. I don't think any kit comes direct bolt on unless it's OEM. Even the most authentic kits require modifications just not as much as the one you have. I think to have someone modify that to fit would cost less than a $1300 Vertex kit and that would probably be painted too. From what I learned don't take an aftermarket bumper to a body shop that is only familiar with OEM replacement parts you need to go to an aftermarket shop that is experienced in fiberglass.

Whatever route you choose good luck.

I'm not the owner lol, but I am definitely here to help

Allow me to introduce myself, I'm Irving, the new Forum Rep.

It’s true that nearly all aftermarket parts will need some kind of modification. Our pieces are hand trimmed at the factory to the best of our abilities, however it simply isn’t possible to test fit every part we manufacture on each specific vehicle. Even if we could, there are numerous circumstances that could cause the same part to fit differently on two different vehicles of the same model and year. It’s for this reason that we never advertise these parts as a direct bolt-on part, and we always recommend they be installed by professional installers with experience with aftermarket body kits.

Also correct.

When looking for a body shop to install your kit, look for one with experience in doing such installations. A body shop with 30 years experience in doing collision work but no experience in aftermarket body kits is not recommended. It would be better to take the kit to a body shop with just 2 years in business but specializing in installing aftermarket body kits. If the body shop is going to charge you anything over $1000 to paint and install, you are probably better off finding another source.

OP, I will PM you shortly to see how I can best help you out with this situation.

thank you,
Irving

This is soooooo true though. I have the rep sides and rear because those parts hardly get damaged. My front is authentic vertex and this this is light s fak and super strong. got hit on the freeway by something falling ut of a truck i couldn't avoid and the bumper is still together. It ripped in 3 areas but its still in relatively great shape! well worth the extra bucks! one more rep bumper and your almost at the price of the vertex...

This is not that bad man, any decent shop experienced with fiberglass can make this fit.
