Default oh the pain.

so im just rambling. i fix one thing to have another two go bad.
just redid my whole tail light wiring because the lights were flickering and i got a ticket. it came out great. i just repaired my starter contacts. and lastly i fully flushed the brake fluid. but now i have to buy a $403 dollar actuator to make my door open from the outside since the rod is broken. have to buy the cable to make it open from the inside because i broke the plastic piece that goes on the interior door handle. and the worst problem, overheating. it just overheated today after 2 months of driving it without a fan shroud. weird that it had no fluid though considering it was full when i bought the car 2 months ago. so now i gotta look for a leak and hope to the lexus gods of niceness that i didnt blow the head gasket or warp the head. :/
oh and i have $0 to my name till my tax refund comes in.

Weigh out your priorities. I would for sure address that over heating issue before even touching anything else. Even if that means opening the door from the passenger side. Hopefully you have another car to drive. Hang in there brother!

I hope you find a puddle of coolant. If there's no puddle or drips anywhere, then **** struck the fan...

These things comes with car ownership...

first things first, put water in the radiator and reservoir in the morning. pressure check system. while i wait for pressure to go down im gonna check the oil to see if any coolant got in there. my hope is that one of the hoses just popped. or if the pressure stays, maybe its just the thermostat stuck closed. thats all im hoping for. i just bought coolant flush and thermostat housing gasket. im gonna remove the thermostat and drive without it. hoping it doesnt overheat then.

Hopefully you get it straightened out in your favor, I recommend finding a fan shroud. Some things that seems unnecessary can be the biggest reason everything runs perfect. And use Toyota Red coolant... I've learned my lesson using Prestone or whatever from auto part stores. Of course, after you fix the leak.

I thought everyone had to get into their SCs from the passenger side? :P In all seriousness, I've found that you can fix most of these problems on your own for very little. What is this $403 actuator/rod thing that you speak of? Surely you can find it for cheaper in the Marketplace here. My driver side door wouldn't open until I put lithium grease on it and learned to pulled out then up on it. Never had a problem since.

i have a 92 sc3. i found my leak. little hose that goes under the thermostat housing had a small hole. still gonna take out the thermostat though since i live in vegas and am not getting the shroud till i can get some money. and i just want to put two 14' hayden electric fans. im **** about my own cars, i always use toyota/lexus fluids. except for oil. i bought two bottles of toyota brake fluid for the flush. wouldnt use anything else. same goes for coolant. so yeah im gonna use toyota coolant. thanks for that though. what happened when you used prestone or the s.h.i.t.t.y. brand?
the actuator is the piece inside the door that holds the door shut. it also is the piece that holds the metal rods that open the door when you pull the handle.

the door actuator rod breaking is very common. if you dont want to pay $400 hit up our vendors in the classifieds who part out SC's, I bought my last one from Aliga off a newer SC for a fraction of what they cost new. Welcome to the world of the SC's.

Awesome. Thank you ali sc3. That really helps. gonna keep my nose burried in the classified section for a while now.
But on the plus side I found the hose that's leaking. Its part number 1626146020. Bought it for 19 dollars and some change at Lexus. It'll be here tomorrow. . the antifreeze was 30 dollars though. Ha. That's a lit. But at least its worth it.

another handy tip for sc3 owners is to try the toyota dealer for the same parts more often than not the price is lower.
Just tell them you have a 94 n/a supra and the part you want. dont say 92 or 93 they will look up a mk3 supra it didn't change to mk4 untill 94.
