Finally decided to get an SC300
Hello Clublexus,
I've had the gs300 for a few years and recently bought an infiniti fx35. I wanted my second car to be a manual and after debating between the mr2, sc300, gsr, and prelude, I decided to go with the sc300!
I recently found a sc300 5speed with 185k miles in acceptable condition, but was worried about the maintenance on it. 185K miles sounds really high and it was driven by an old lady. She has no records of maintenance and has no idea what has been done to the car.
Should i pick it up?
Thanks for the help
William.

Post pictures of it and we can tell you more on what should do... Finding a SC300 with a manual are getting harder to find if in really good shape. Also check out the sticky just above this section and look for the diy and common problems to look for and to ask the lady. Good luck.

Taking a look at it this weekend. She had to leave the country for a month. I got her to 4k and she has no idea what has done with the car regarding maintenance which still makes me uneasy. She agreed to take it to a mechanic and have it inspected. Any thoughts about this clublexus?

How many miles are on the car?
I just bought my 93 5spd with 80k for 3500. No maint. records but i carfaxed/lexus owners club reviewed the vin and it came up as dealer serviced up until 77k when the owner I bought it from purchased the car. I thought there was not much in 3k miles that could hurt the wallet too bad.
However, I am picky and have decided to do all the recommended services and I have a mechanic friend helping me do T-belt, waterpump, pulleys, tensioners, fluids etc. before I really use the car.

WOW! thats an amazing deal for 3500! I bet anybody would jump on it in a heartbeat.. Everything in Socal is priced at an average 4-5k for a beat up 5spd with very high mileage.
The car I'm looking at is 185K, which also makes me uneasy, but I feel more confident as the engine is a 2jz-ge, mom driven.
Thanks guys for the input.
