Default Sc400 shift light auto

I tried to search for it but can't find anything in the forum but when I'm trying to reverse, I am able to go reverse but on my cluster my R is not lite up so that causes my reverse light not to come on. It sometimes happen to my drive too but when I go driving for a bit then it lights back up. Is there like something underneath the shifter that is causing this or something out of place or loose that is causing this? Thx for the help CL

Check your fuses. The reverse bulbs arent receiving signal causing the indicator on the cluster not to come on and not the other way around.

I don't think it's the fuse cause later on a drive when I want to reverse the light on the cluster will come on and the reverse light will come on too in the tail light so it has to be something else. Something has to be out of place or loose then when driving it might be knocked into place by the car moving shaking from being so low or something.

All I can tell you is inspect the wires starting with the easiest place, the tail light. Could be a loose wire somewhere. Let us know how it goes. Remember a DMM is your friend.

Will a loose wire cause the the light in the cluster and in the shifter not to come on causing the reverse light not to come on? Ill check what I think it might be.

Ok let me clarify, I was installing a reverse camera once and I tapped a wire to the reverse light 12v+ and the other end to the remote wire on the unit instead of the reverse wire by accident. giving the reverse bulb in the tails constant signal which caused it to stay on as well as the R light on the cluster and the R light on the shifter. They're all connected and I assume only one of them gets the primary signal (I trust its either the shifter or the tail light.)

If the light comes on some times it means there is a loose wire somewhere, if its permanently off it means it doesnt get signal at all and it could be either a dead bulb that doesnt completes the circuit or a wire thats disconnected. Best way to go around this is to check wires with a DMM or a voltmeter. I'd start with the tails since they are the easiest to get to. I am leaning towards a loose wire from the transmission to wherever it goes (shifter or tail light). With electric stuff there is always a big margin of error, thus check every possibility starting with the easiest.

PS: If I remember correct the white wire on the tails bulb is ground and the red is hot.

Hope I helped. Good luck.
