I did a search on here and got side tracked reading other threads not related to my search lol. I have 2 USDM 2jzgte ECUs that I got to keep when i changed out for customers using haltechs or aems. I have had them for years sitting in my cabinet, stored dry with no moisture.

Question is without sending them to an ECU repair facility, how can I test if they are still good? I dont want to send it in and they give me some BS saying something is wrong with them. They were working perfectly when I swapped out the ECUs. But now if I want to sell them, I want to be sure I sell them working, so I dont get ripped by the buyer. It happened once already on a known working ECU that I put into my car and drove down the street with before I shipped it out.

Unless someone in San Diego would like to help me out with a obd1 Supra TT 6speed, I would like to try them out.

pop the lids and check to see if the capacitors are bulging or bleeding onto the circuit board. If so, then most certainly bad or going bad. Beyond that, I would test them in a car to see how it runs.

^^ I agree with this. Not sure how else they can be tested other than plugging each of them into a car or by physically inspecting the internal boards. I have a good working OBD1 USDM TT 6-speed ECU and I plan to send it in for inspection and/or reconditioning for what it's worth. They're all older computers at this point although the capacitor wear seems to vary.

I don't hear much of anything in terms of capacitor issues with USDM TT 6-speed ECUs but that could just be due to much lower accrued mileage on average despite the age.
