Supra MKIV Exhaust done!
So I bought an exhaust for an MKIV Supra as the title states already. When I bout it the exhaust kit included a Down Pipe and full Catback. I also had purchased a high flow cat to be installed considering I live in Texas where emissions are an issue. Anyway, So I took some pics and will explain the issues I ran into.
We uninstalled the exhaust at my house.
Stock exhaust sucks!!
Open DP sound just for fun.
This is what it looked like when we showed up with just a DP installed at the shop.
Here is all the parts I had acquired before install:
This is a down pipe I already had for a 1jz twin set up with wideband bung installed on it. Which we used only the top 5-6in of it so that we had the flange and bung for it.
Here is the high flow cat which was about 12in in length.
So to begin the Supra DP has the right bends but the turbo side of it does not go far enough up to connect to the turbo y-pipe. It also of course has the wrong flange. So we chopped the flange off at the top of the supra Down pipe and literally the length of my high flow cat and the 1jz down pipe flange was perfect for getting the Supra DP in the right position.
Keeping the Cat high and out of the way was good for clearance issues in the end also. I know the welds are not perfect looking but they work and it will stay put. The result on the bottom side is this...
It lined up perfect for the rest of the install. Even though I had the full Turboback exhaust set up you still have to add some piping to fill a gap in the exhaust that is left over after lining up the back half of it .
So we ended up cutting the pipe where the muffler is and adding some metal to make it line up a little better with the bumper cut out and also avoiding bashing in the spare tire trunk metal.
The tip looks good and lined up well after all the modding!
Clearance is pretty good too.
My phone makes things sound weird I think because it sounded deeper and smoother tone in realtime. Anyway, Here is a video of the results.
and then Sasha is sitting pretty
I am going to take a different video of the exhaust soon after I put a few more miles on it so it sounds like it should.
Thanks for looking! Thanks to Vrank for the help! Also for donating his down pipe to help with this set up!
