Default 1992 Lexus SC400 New Owner - Need Help

Hi Guys,

I'm a new owner of a beautiful white pearl 92 SC400.

I'm a nit-picky kinda guy, so there is one "cosmetic" issue that is bothering me, which I would like fixed/replaced. It seems the side skirts of these model cars are made out of plastic? I'm talking about the molding underneath the body panel which feels like vynl/plastic. It is yellowish/beige in color.

One of these side skirts on my new beauty has a dent/crease in it. I'm wondering if this could be repaired or replaced with an OEM side skirt for the same model year? I did a google search for hours and can not find the replacement OEM part. I'm going to a Lexus dealer for an inspection this Saturday, so I'll ask their parts department. However, I wanted your opinions. I wonder if the crease/indent can be pushed out from the other side, sort of how you would pop out a ding.

The material of the side skirt is soft to the point where, it seems, if one was to accidentally kick it, the side skirt would indent. Does any 1 know what material the side skirts are made out of? Also, it is easy to replace these things?

I appreciate your thoughts and advice.

Thanks guys!

Hey 2j, did you find the original part or are you installing an aftermarket side skirt? If so, can you point me to where I can get the original part replacement?

How easy is it to replace this part? Do you know what material it's made from? Thanks!

You'll have trouble finding the part number for a 1992 side skirt because they didn't come with any. If your 92 has skirts, they aren't stock.

(yes, my car was missing the front lip when I got it)

Hi John,

There's a fiberglass/plastic piece that runs underneath the body panel from wheel to wheel that's beige/yellowy tan in color underneath my white 92 Lexus SC400. I called the dealer and they located the OEM part, but of course, I'm not happy with the price I received from the dealer. I guess they don't call it a skirt.
