^^ Yes same length.
Then 1st Gen Soarer , then MK3 r154
So for your car is it's 95 and Original 5 speed, the 2nd Gen Soarer and Chaser will be PNP and the mk3 with shifter housing extended properly about 3.5" will be PNP for you car.
The 1st Gen Soarer will non be PNP you will have to cut your Tunnel.
If you have an Auto you will have to cut you tunnel regardless .

Finally a good read haha. So from what I've gathered, my 99 auto will need either a mk3 extended(btw is that the whole sc300 front and mk3 rear ive read about? Just to clarify). Or the 2nd gen soarer/chaser. But regardless cut the hole?

yeah i think with most of the auto you will end up cutting the hole.
basically you have to extend the mk3 trans regardless.
once you get the trans in just see then where you need to cut.
the front and rear stuff is usually when people are talking about mating the driveshafts to get the correct length.

Well, the trans is in. I had to cut out more than I expected to get it to be clean... on reflection, I probably could have addressed the tunnel with a big hammer... hindsight, blah, blah.
Thanks for the info you guys!

If you check out some supra sites where they do auto to manual swaps on the mk4, the trans tunnel is different and they (when doing it right) buy the stamped steel piece of the tunnel from a 6spd car and use a number of ways to bolt it in. You cut the hole, then fit this over. It adds height to the original. Tripod shifter to me actually has a more desirable fitment in the car. My opinion. I just used self tapping screws and some metal to cover the holes as a temp fix because I found all this out on the fly and the car needed to run and couldn't wait for a "perfect" solution. Eventually I'll buy the mk4 tunnel piece from Toyota and use it on the sc. I watched Ryan V use it on his supra in person, and have no doubts it could work on the sc too.

Hi Guys, Sorry to revive an old thread.
I have a 97 SC300 manual which came with the W58 that has a tripod shifter. I blew the W58 the other day and I have a 92 soarer R154 transmission (which came from factory with the housing a bit extended and also has a swan neck shifter that goes backwards).
My question is am I gonna have to cut the transmission hole forward in order for this R154 to fit?
Thanks
