Today i went to install my ARP extended studs in the rear. I got everything apart and ran into a little problem. The emergency brake is in the way.
I figured what the hell and tried anyway. Smacked one stud out. There wasnt much room behind the hub. So i took the extended stud and treid to wedge it in every way possible, but it just wouldnt fit. Its not even that the brake is in the way, the metal backing is too close to the hub for the stud to fit.
This was about the closest i got to getting it through
I know people have installed these studs before so howd you guys do it?
Anybody have any techniques/ideas to throw my way? The e brake looks like a pita to take apart so im not sure if thats the beat idea.
Just try to find the angle, don't get stuck in one place. A lot of people have done it a thousand times, including me. But I must warn you, those ARP studs are prone to stripping. Good luck.

Yeah i saw that you had problems with yours, but ive seen more good reviews than bad so i gave it a shot.
Anyway, Do you remember if you angled it at the top/bottom, left/right side?
I didn't really have a hard time inserting it so I don't really remember exactly how. But I had a 15mm spacer so that's Pretty long too. What I remember though when doing it was I was rotating the hub while inserting it...
Yeah i feel like i tried every which way. I tried in between every space and turned the hub all kids of ways. But the back of the ebrake is too close for any angle cause the studs so long.. I think i remember reading it was 2.6in which is about 66mm.
Im gunna give it another try in next time i get some time. Maybe i just wasnt trying hard enough.
I had mine installed from the bottom. Theres a place to slip the stud in, but i cant remember ,its been a while.

i was thinking about doing this but it looks like a real pain to take it apart. but i guess if i cant find a spot to fit it in, it might be my only choice.
Generally any time you have to take it off is a good time to check at least as they don't come off very often.
I can't tell from the picture exactly but they look ok
