Default Just got some 97 sides, need advice on install:)

Hey guys ,

finally got a set of 97 sides thanks to Aliga, now they came with clips all along the top half, but the bottom half has none, I hate going to the dealer even for something minor, can I get away with zipties or anything else? or should I just order the clips from dealer.

The search function is rarely any help, i tried and found a thread where a guy used 2 sided tape but I would rather not go that route.

What have u guys used to attach these things?

Thanks

pics suck i know but as u can see i dont have all the clips , got the top ones but not the bottom, thanks.

(edit) also which side goes front and which side back? does it matter? one end seems to have a bigger curve on the bottom im assuming that is rear but not sure ,thanks

i would buy all the clips... my painter tried to rig mine up but they do not sit a 100% flush like stock... they are stuck on there and not coming off but are not flush.

he told me also tht the lip part tht goes in the door u have to take the molding off thts attached to ur chassis to get the lip to fit there. open ur door ull see where there are two screws tht go there. tht molding needs to be taken off.

also, the side skirts say "lh" and "rh" u just gotta wash them good to find it. gl

lol thanks man ,ive been trying to get a set of these for over 2 years, sc's were only sold in canada from 92-95 so fiding 97+ anything is very hard,

and ive been busy with other stuff so the car is not fully painted as of yet , this week hopfully but im really loving the wheels, i got plans to relip 2 of them to a 6 inch lip, got quote already just waiting to get around to it.

and no i actually did not get the mouldings, I was just offered a set for 160$ shipped, i think its a good deal but I didnt know they were so expensive not sure if im gonna grab them yet or not, i guess i should as it will probably not look good without them.

I recommend buying the clips too. I really don't know how else you could get them to stay on securely other than using a gallon of Crazy Glue to stick them on. Like cmh said, you have to take off the factory moldings before you can put the skirts on.

A few years ago I heard of someone using double sided tape to attach the side skirts to the car. I'm not sure how well it would work though.

i think it looks good both ways...

without them they look good but look more aftermarket. less stock looking. try it. u can always add the molding later if u think it looks stupid without it..

Use all clips, they even sell them at auto zone. This way you can easily take them off if needed.

^^^thanks again aliga, im gonna see how they look without mouldings first then decide, ill let you know though

and guys are these the factory mouldings ur reffering too?do i just pull them off?

also theres no holes on my car for the top clips that caME with the skirts, im assuming they only had holes on the 97+ models and hence the clips i have are useless?

I got them painted and im picking up my clips tomorow, im sure ill figure it out but its nice to get a little help beforehand, thanks

noooooooo dont do it! lol

wrong molding dude.

open the door and along the door sill ur gunna see two screws. take those two screws off and tht molding comes off.

the skirts havto be installed with the doors open. at the top of the skirt ur gunna see two screw holes. those two screw holes have to be installed inside the door. those are also the two screws im talking about that when u remove them a molding has to be removed from there.
