That's was a sweet conversion. I can't wait to see what you do in your Lexus.

I actually have multiple choices to choose from -as I started collecting VFT displays quite some time ago. I was thinking either along the line of the riata cluster -which has sweeping circular displays and all of the neccessary guages -or the Jaguar display which is very modular and easily changeable. I also could even go with the Pulsar NX cluster possibilty. I dunno -it will take a bit of experimentation to get the right look that fits the car.

Almost all of the VFT displays can be filtred with either smoke, blue or green plexiglas. Red is a color that doesn't go well with VFT. It will work but the intensity is noticeably cut down. The villager display has a redish orange section on the tach from about 5.5 to 8k RPM and that VFT color doesn't show well thorugh anything but a light smoke color filter. It takes lots of playing with to get everything just rignt. It is something that takes lots of patience. So if you have any -don't attempt it.

I plan to do a lot of similar write-ups for the SC cars too when I get going on mine. I have already discovered how to replace the SC300/400 plastic pull handles inside that tend to break with metal ones. Both of mine were broken when I first got the car about two weeks ago now.

When I get in full-swing -I am even going to divide the website into KL and UZ stuff -now that I am also addicted to the SC & UZ. I have one somewhat minor hold-up keeping me from starting. I bought the car from a car butcher. He butchered it to fix a customer's car. So he stole the bumper and the front hood. I have already found both replacement pieces with a 300SC parts car.

Sorry for drifting off topic. Back to the fun cluster stuff eh!

I would prefer to start with a useless cluster since good SC clusters seem to be a rare commodity.

Perhaps I should post a wanted thread for a bad cluster (non-reparable).

That would be a great idea. I was actually looking for a non working one. I was thinking along the same lines. Why hack up a good cluster? I have a couple of feelers out. I will let you know as soon as I find one.

What year and model do you have SC400 or SC300?

I have a 92 SC 400 with bad needles and a 92 SC300 with good needles. The plan is to swap the good needles from the 300 to the 400 and I will have that cluster but would rather not use if if someone has a bad one because it will just need a set of needles to be good.

But -if I am unable to find a bad one then the 300 cluster will have to become the guinea pig.

I mean your car. What year and model, so I can make sure it fits your car. Sorry for the confusion.

I have both cars. The 400 is the one I will be putting together as soon as I have the title in my hands. The 300 is my parts car.

I think my brain is fried from all the yelling and crying my kids have been doing while trying to read this thread. I even quoted him in my post with the answer!

Sorry guys!
