Default 97+ tail lights to 95-96 tail lights

Searched and didn't find really anything about people going from a 97 SC300 and then wanting to change to the 95-96 taillights. How does the wiring line up, any issues, etc?

Found an eBay link for tails and.... It says "Fits: 1997 SC300"..

http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEXUS-SC300-...249da8&vxp=mtr

Wondering if someone can point me in the right direction! Thanks

I have a 97 and I went to 95-96. You need the whole tail-light assembly and the part of the harness. If you only have the tails and you maintain the 97 harness then you will not have enough bulbs. Hope that helps

Ah I see, so if I was to buy off of eBay, I'd need to source part of the harness separately as well? Was it pretty easy to install?

I miss my old '95-'96 tail lights, But I hated the fact that mixing a '97+ rear bumper with '95 tail lights leaves a noticable gap between one side of the tail light and the rear bumper. So to alleviate that problem, I converted to '97+ tail lights, Complete with the harness and the tail light module (So I don't get that warning light on my dash).

You'll also need the flasher relay from a 95-96 otherwise you'll have the 'light-out' light on your gauge cluster and the turn signals will flash oddly.

^^^This.

IMO, the '97+ tails look a bit feminine and mellow.. SC's have a very aggressive design that was tamed by the '97+..

I've been wanting to do this too so i can take apart my 97+. And all you need is the harness, and you wont have a break light out indicator or do you need the module?

Bringing this back. Will the 95-96 owners have a hyperblinking issue with 97+ tails? I've read that 92-94 will but haven't read that 95-96 do.

No problem. All -94-97+ tails have same kind of wiring.

Perfect! And someone mentioned above that I will have a tail light out light in my dash and will need a flasher from a 95-96 to fix that? Do you have that issue as well?

PS - here's my front fitment as of yesterday... Spaced my wheels out another 3mm so the lip is pretty much on the fender, tucking. But, because of camber, I can get full lock and have no problems with my wheels hitting my fenders! Wooo~! Feels nice to have bagged fitment but being on coilovers.
