Default How do you guys feel about a 90-92 MK3 Supra?

I found a black targa top MK3 shell for cheap and was thinking about getting it to do a 2J swap in it instead of building my SC400. What do you guys think? I know stock the MK3's are hideous but with the right stance and MK4 wheels they look great with the addition of a front lip. Opinions will be highly appreciated

i was so so about them until I saw a couple good looking ones

that said, I think they have all the same options as the later model toyotas (1js, 2js, 7m, etc.) and you can use an r154. i think theyre a solid car

...But, I think an sc400 is awesome too. if you were to do a motor/trans swap on the sc400 that yould be tempting. I dont know, to be honest, to tough

I forgot to add, I dont know a ton about mk3 suspension, but I think its easier and more simple to adjust. for example, mk3 coils come with camber plates which you can use to adjust camber, not the case on an sc300

btw, thats a good deal for the shell. very tempting

In these times you truly need at least an extra car always and the MK3 is a sturdier platform to start with. I'd take my time with it just like you've stated and drive my SC400. The SC400 on the other hand is great as well but gas right now is

Thanks man those are some good pics...the shop I deal with called Dangerous Toys Performance has a black single turbo 1JZ MK3 and it's beyond clean. When done right they look amazing and for the price I'm really tempted. I'm not sure if it's a turbo shell though but if it is that's a big plus. I'll call the guy later today and ask more about it & might be able to lower the price

Do you guys know if the S13 hatchback has more interior space than a MK3? I know they're way lighter in weight.

Forget that mess!!! Take that mk3 and never look back... Believe me I would take the mk3 over 240 becaus the mk3 is a all around more solid built car, with the right sway you could hit will over 400 hp and not have to worry about shredding the block (240) the list goes on...

I'll be calling the guy in a few to confirm price and etc. but if I got a 240 it would be a 1JZ S13 hatchback sleeper lol

I'm hoping this shell is a turbo MK3 shell...if it is that would be a plus but if not I'll be pushed away & may consider doing the S13 1JZ/2JZ sleeper. I'd find that the S13 parts would be way cheaper due to the MK3 being a little more rare than the S13.

mk3 builds are sweet but be cautioned , they can be money pits asnive done a few down here and costs can get out of hand real quick

buy the damn mk3!

if it's between 90-92 those are great years to have. I built a 600+hp 88 myself converted to 89+. Very solid car and very comfortable. More so than my MK4. If I ever come across a mk3 for a reasonable deal I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one
