Stock form they sit too high...I love that color though but I like the 90-92 MK3 better. The 7M is notorious for blowing head gaskets & by the time you invest in building it you could have swapped in a more reliable 1JZ.

They only blow headgaskets if you don't know what you're doing. I addressed that issue in mine and never had an issue. With the current build, reliability is my main concern. fully built bottom end with teflon crankscraper and upgraded oil pump with 2JZ race bearings with my 6M crank (yes, it's possible). MHG and ARP studs? yep!! I like my 3liters. If I wanted to swap, I'd skip 1J and go straight into 2J.

1J stock is still far more reliable than a 7M built or stock

I know they have potential but I'm not getting one anymore...my SC deserves a swap & that's the plan I'm sticking with

Mk3s are hot! I had 2 of them before na and turbo, loved both of them, but bhg is a ticking time bomb you never know when it's gonna blow go with 1jz instead of 7mgte that's a no brainer

I've always loved the mkIII, I was looking into one for the longest time before I bought my sc300, but it is so hard to find a good one where I'm from. Now 6500 for a shell seems a little steep to me though. I'd tread with caution and continue searching.

I'm not getting a MK3 anymore & the shell was for $650. I'm going to keep my SC because I have too much time & money invested within it to give up on it. I'll have my SC & get a MK4 in the future (2-3 years)

Sigh.

A 7M is not 'unreliable'. It's just idiot proof and directly reflects the knowledge, and dedication of its owner. Fixing the BHG issue is well documented at this point. If done PROPERLY, the 7M is a very stout, reliable motor.

By the time u invest in that the 1J could be in and maybe single turboed and STILL be more reliable and faster than a 7M

The entire top end of my 7M was rebuilt to proper specs for under $500. I'd love to see you find a 1JZ for $500, let alone have the money and time to install it and go single turbo.

I used to own a MKIII supra, I loved the car but the 7MGTE is the worst engine ever just asked anybody that used to own that engine... If anybody gets a MKIIi supra recommendation do and engine swap either a 1JZ which is easier to do than the 2JZ, but either JZ engine is a 100 times better than a 7MGTE.

I bought another MKIII and I will be doing a 1JZ VVT-i swap on it. The 7M built right and I mean right would be a great engine, but from experience loose the 7M.
