Hey guys, I'm actually the proud owner of a couple ES's, but saw this on Craigslist today and thought you all would appreciate; she looks super clean and definitely doesn't look 10+ years old with half a million miles! (2jz-GE FTW!)
Saw this on craigslist, 500k miles
I have a '95 SC300 Pearl White with Tan Leather interior...power everything. The body is in good condition with just a few dings here and there. It runs and drives great, has 70% tread left on sport tires, and has had timing belt and water pump recently replaced. The car has had regular oil changes. The KBB is 4300 and the interior is in great condition with just a few minor flaws in leather. I'd say the interior is about 90% good and amazing for a car this age. The car runs/drives strong. In the last 2 weeks, the radio volume is very low...might be a loose wire somewhere. Will take 2000 OBO.. KBB is 4300. I don't need to sell so no low-ball offers. Title in hand.
*AC is ice cold
*Timing belt current
*No engine smoking (at startup, driving, ANY time)
*Decent tires
*All power options work great
*Leather in good condition
*No body rust *500k miles (no, this is not a joke. Nope, there is NOTHING wrong with the car...come check it out. Please do not call or text and ask if this is for real. It's a Toyota, they last forever)
Also willing to trade for a truck mid 90's or newer (preferably manual).

If my SC gives me at least 300k miles with no major engine/tranny problem, that's money well spent on restoring it. And if it gives my at least that and engine/tranny breaks down on me, I'm gonna rebuild everything from ground up and probably go NA or supercharger on my 400.
Figure the guy bought it new in 1995 (someone did, anyway) and drove it an average of 29,412 miles per year.
So... call it $50,000 new + $75,000 in gas (approximately) + about $35,000 in maintenance (just pulled that out of thin air, but I liked it). Total of $160,000 spent.
Now, divide that by 5,844 days; that's the last 16 years of its' operation. We don't know when it was bought (either in 1994 or 1995), so we'll go with that. Time for some eighth grade mathematics, folks:
$160,000/5844 = $27.38 per day. That's not too bad to run a 16 year old luxury car. Particularly with that mileage.
Of course, that's assuming the dude bought it new, never had an engine replacement or sold it. Lots of assumptions, but what car in this caliber could claim such a relatively low cost of ownership?
PROUD to be an SC owner.
Props to Jadu for inspiring me to do the math; never let an accountant loose with numbers, or an English major loose with the English language.
