Headlight bulb question for JDM spec
Hey folks,
I have a 1992 Soarer, it is harder than I expected to find out which actual bulb is the correct fit for the dips (low beams)!. Looking on the SoarerWorld forums and on Clublexus, I have gotten mixed answers and am unsure as to which bulb is the correct low beam fitment on the JDM spec headlights.
I have spoken to specific HID suppliers and they are unsure as well because they focus on USDM only......Does anyone on this forum have a Soarer and have purchased an HID kit for the low beams that has worked?? Reading on the forums it is hard to get a definitive answer as so many people have tried different things and claim they haven't really worked. Apparently the JDM spec and USDM spec headlights have different bulbs and are not the same

I have jdm spec lights. I had to trim on one of the mounting ear on the bulb to use the stock bulb. I think it was a 9005/9006. The j spec lights that came with it were piaa bulbs. The guys i talked to said they looked like old fog light bulbs. And where discontinued. Autozone or parts store should have a box of odd bulbd that broke in the plastic. ask to test fit one then get the ones u need.

You'll need HB3 (9005) bulbs, the locking tabs inside the bulbs need to be grinded down to fit the original connectors. Typical HB4 (9006) don't fit the Soarer because the base is too big in diameter (22mm as opposed to 19mm or 20mm)

Low beam: 9005 (HB3) 55w
High Beam: 9006 (HB4) 65w
Parkers: T10 Wedge Bulb
Fogs 94-96 : H3 55w
I've known some soarer's to have 9005's in the high and low beams. If your car is in Australia check the bulbs already in it, because they can change them during compliance.
