Default Key Replacement - Soarer Owners

I'd like to make a spare key for a 1991 Toyota Soarer (JZZ30). I'm wondering if it's as simple as purchasing a Lexus key on Ebay, and taking it to a locksmith to cut. Or do they have some sort of chip inside? I was reading if they do that I need to get the code off the barrel from the trunk, and not from the driver side door since it's code is a decoy and won't start the ignition. Just wanted to make sure this was the case.

Interesting video I found for a SC400 of a locksmith in Georgia that knows his stuff. Seems that our keys (Lexus & Toyota) for SC's have a total of 32 internal teeths. So he gets the teeth pattern from the Trunk code, then the driver side, and finally the ignition. Pretty genius. Still I'm open to past experiences.

Dealers will give you the key code for your VIN with proof of ownership.

I'm not sure about Soarers, but the early SCs don't have a chip for the ignition. I think that was introduced in '97 or so.
