I got mine installed To answer your question they are the same size, but look and feel smaller when holding. I deleted the airbag, and am using the clock spring from the IS350. Im just waiting on the wiring harness that would come out the back of the IS250/IS350 clock spring and down the steering column....

Anyone know where I could find one? I just need the plug with 4-6 inches of wire so I can spice in

What wire did you use to get power to the LED's in the steeringwheel. I see that the Red/White on the ISx50 wheel through the clock spring is used but what is on the Sc400 side?

Does anyonew know if the SWI-RC has a wire that would suffice?

Other then that I have the 4 buttons on the left working (without light)
and I bought 4 resistors to allow for all the other buttons to work! hopefully tonight it will be complete!

I know this is an old thread and many of these guys probably aren’t even active any longer, but if someone knows, please help me out.

I don’t understand how/why you would use the clockspring from the new steering wheel (IS250 in this case) but also swap over the airbag igniter from an IS300 wheel for example? The IS250 clockspring won’t connect to the igniter from the older style single stage airbags. I’m all for using the newer clockspring with more circuits available to wire up everything, but it seems like if you’re to do that, then you don’t swap igniters?

IS250 clockspring (notice the two airbag connectors)

IS250 airbag

SC400 clockspring (notice the single airbag connector)

And finally, an IS300 airbag (single stage w/ one connector)

Can anyone definitively state that 1) a clockspring from an 2IS, or even a 3IS would fit our cars? And 2) that if we indeed can use a newer clockspring, that we will NOT have to swap igniters for the airbags?

Whenever I've used steering wheels from other cars, I've retained the original SC clockspring. The only reason I can see to swap clocksprings is if you need the extra through-puts for steering wheel controls. I guess I always assumed the clockspring is specific to the steering column.

Hey dude. Yeah, that was my thought also. But, someone in this thread said they used the clockspring from a 2IS, so I was thrown for a loop. If I can use the clockspring from a 2IS, I’d gain those additional circuits, which I think is great. My ‘97 SC400 has like 4 circuits. A 2IS has I think 8, if I remember correctly. I could really use that for audio controls and other buttons which are on the steering wheel naturally. I’d love to use the 2IS clockspring, but then I shouldn’t do anything with airbag…
