Default Installing Leather Seats (no not another which one question)

Hello all,

I have been searching and browsing the forum and have found tons of you guys installing leather seat covers and they turn out amazing. The one thing I don't see mentioned is the quality of the actual seat itself.

My main concern and issue is that the seats I have are missing some padding and what not. I see some before and after pictures that look worse than mines but turns out amazing like new.

My question is are you guys inserting extra padding? Or are the seat covers padded? How are you achieving that like new look?

When I did my seats I didnt need any extra padding. Just had to pull and push on it until it was smooth. If your seats need padding go to a fabric store and look for some foam padding. You will also need some contact glue to spray on both sides that will touch. This will keep it from moving while you install your new covers. If you want to biuld up the sides or any other area the same thing applies. But you will need to trim the foam with a razor to get it closer to the shape you want. The big thing is to pull and rub until its as smooth as possable. Take your time. Hope this helps. good luck

Thanks for the reply. Contact glue on the extra pad (if I had to insert any) or are you referring to the whole seat leather so that the cover will stay? Most likely I will pick up a set of clazzio? Forgot what they're called.

You can also use a steamer on your flattened foam cushions. Many times it will make the foam expand back up to near its original size.

Are the Clazzio's worth the sticker price? Trying to decide what to do for my busted up seats. Either Clazzio's or Leather Seat Depot

I didnt buy the full out leather for the TC; I bought the PVC, so I saved about $200+ right there. It honestly transformed the look of the TC. They tuck in nicely so it actually looks reupholstered.

I remember seeing some sites where the leather clazzio was the only ones offered. IMO, that's way too much for covers. I'd save up and get the busted seats reupholstered

The leather Clazzio's for the SC are $459, which isn't too bad especially if they can be applied easily and don't look out of place.

Even if they have them in stock? That does suck, but not terrible. There's only a $100 price difference between leather and pvc...that's worth it in my book.

Were they pretty straight forward to install?

I got a set on ebay, worked out pretty well for my 1995 GS300, I had them make a set of customer front seats from a MKII Supra to match 8-).
