97 auto cluster displays MPG? anyone can explain?

Default 97 auto cluster displays MPG? anyone can explain?





apparently theres a way to have it display mpg? anyone care to chime in?

you have to press the MODE/SET button. its under the cluster to the right side of the steering wheel

What he said. It'll give you various options like two trip meters: A & B, and mpg

Its the MODE/SET button.. but.. 97 doesnt have this feature I believe? I never had it when I had my 97. Its only on the 98+

i just went out and checked and my 97 has it too... says my average mpg is 11.8. well, that sucks lol

yea this made me like my cluster again. just when i thought the pre97s were lucky for not having the cathode setup.

my 97 has it also.

I wonder if the MPG reading would be off on a swapped car, or one with aftermarket fuel. Injector DC would be totally different between different injector sizes, so it would have to be incorrect, right?

its gonna be off either way. if calculated based on fuel maps then injectors would throw it off. at via odometer algorithm then the tire size would throw it off.... i wonder if i can keep this functional with my 5 speed swap though!

It you have larger wheels/tires than stock, and do a 5-speed swap, I bet it will be really close.

mmmmmmmmm and the diff has to be taken into account also. sigh ill stick to fuelly. cool feature though!

Yep what everyone else said, I notice your back-light for those buttons are also burnt out. I was mad last winter when my climate button lights and the light for those little buttons burnt out last winter. I'm guessing the harsh temperatures killed the fragile filaments in those tiny bulbs. Still burnt out. The Hazards were burnt out before I even got the car and didnt even know it lit up, have yet to replace any of those bulbs lol.
