Default What friends are for......

Mu buddy just bought him a 1998 SC400, which this is the third one in the past 2 years. He called me and told me that couldn't get it aligned due to bad lower control arm bushings. I told him to order the bushings and I would put them in for him, since I am the SC expert here...lol When I picked up the car, it did shake a little. When I arrived home I went straight to work. In the middle of doing this, he called and I told what a pain in the butt these are.. Later in the conversation he said go ahead build me an BFI. He said he would pay me for my time. I told him he doesnt owe me anything due to him giving me the lowering springs and struts I wanted, which with a set of Tokico Blues and Esplier lowering springs. That was enough for my me. He wouldnt hear of that, he wanted to do more. I said in a kidding fashion, I will take your radio and put the factory one back in, he said ok. He didnt like it anyway.. So here is my new Pioneer AVID-D3 with all the accessories and remote to go with it.. I wanted to share my story and how good friends are harder and harder to come by these days. In the end, he called me again and thank me for the time and effort and the car felt like new again...

My new radio fixing to go in....

I want a head unit similar to that. Pioneer is the way to go.

Did you press the new bushings in by hand?

On the passenger side I did. It wasnt easy at all. I thought on all SC's that you had they come in 2 pieces, and you couldnt get them like a factory direct replacement. These were factory replacements and was aggravating as crap to put in. The driver side I actually had to remove the lower control completely and put in the vice to work with.. I hope I never ever have to this again. My back is sore from spending half the day under this car. I will not attempt this again without a lift...

In the end, my goal was to make my buddy happy... Mission accomplished..

URGENT QUESTION/REQUEST! can you link me to where you purchased the 97 LCA bushing replacements?! and how many hours did it take to burn them out approximately?

haha, exactly my thoughts. Those bushings arent that bad, maybe without a lift but couldnt really compare as i refuse to work on the ground.

I will supply the link. He ordered them off of ebay. He got the car aligned today and he is happy. The vibration is gone. All is good now.

I bought me some stinger patch cords today. The problem lies I need the navigation disc for the navigation to work. My question is where can I buy the disc or can I borrow one from someone elses and it work? Is these discs serial number protected? Thanks for any input.

That radio looks awesome! Pioneer makes some nice headunits.

I didn't realize those bushings were so hard to replace.
