Default This interior lamp issue has me at a loss...

My "new" 1992 SC400 has an odd issue I cannot resolve. When the doors (either or both) open I have puddle lights but no dome light or floor lighting. I have thoroughly checked and tested the lamps and fuses, all work and are good. I know the switch in the door lock works, the puddle lamps only come on when the door is opened along with the "door ajar" light on the instrument panel. There is power getting to the dome lamp, it comes on when the switch is moved to the "on" position but not when in the "door" position.
The previous owner installed some nice Boston Acoustics speakers in the doors and I'm wondering if the trigger wires for the dome lamp were damaged, but I cannot believe it happened in both doors! This is the only electrical issue the car has and it's bugging me silly! Before I go tearing into the doors I'm hoping there is some simple "SC" fix that I'm unaware of, anybody? Thanks, and I did some searching as well...

Ok, this is why you shouldn't post when exhausted - I don't need to tear into the door if the "door ajar" lamp is coming on with the doors open as the door switch is obviously working.
Any ideas??

Yep, checked each of the numbers and tested each (dome and floor bulbs) with a 9-volt battery. Also used a voltmeter to check for voltage getting to the lights... got nothing... Definitely a wiring issue somewhere...

If the sunroof isn't working it's a fuse. Aftermarket stuff installed, most likely jacked up wiring.

its most likely undone. take off the door panel and see if they're connected. I left mine undone by accident. The plugs come out really easy.

All these lights work on a ground trigger. Basically the "ground" is gone now. If I ground the white/red wire the lights will come on. It seems to me like it may be a relay or a module. Power is there so it's not a power issue. I'm stumped.

It' not a power problem, it's a ground problem. The car knows the doors are open because light is on on dash. For some reason it is not sending a ground trigger to th red/white wire to turn on floor lights and dome light.

Integration module has zapped a capacitor. I could buy a new module but there $250.00. Did some digging around and I found the grounds trigger wire for the door. Tested it and it lights up everything. I'll post pics of it's location and what I did to make it work.

Very interested in your findings Shane. I noticed that both my foot well lights and dome light are not coming on in my car too. I plan to take a look this weekend. Thanks for sharing any info you find.

if you did this, I would love to see it. My door lights come on but dome does not.
