Hey guys! I am excited to be joining the Lexus community. I recently began working on fixing up my family's 1999 Lexus SC400 in Angora Beige Metallic. My father, who passed away 5 years ago, purchased this single owner car, with the intention of turning it into a retirement mobile. Unfortunately he was not able to see those days, and the car was DD'd by my brother for a few years after his passing. My brother realized the SC's impracticality as a DD, and purchased a Honda Accord. So this Lexus has been sitting, covered, for a while now.
It's my new project now to restore this car to it's low-mileage, Sunday Driver prestine condition, along with adding some modern creature comforts and tasteful improvements.
How the car sat before I touched it (Note the crappy 16" American Eagle peeling chrome wheels)
How the car sits currently with new 18x9.5 Rota SS10's wrapped in Bridgestone RE760's (Please excuse the non-detailed and poor composition).
Just slapped a new battery in her (had to go with a ****ty Autocraft because my NAPA store sold me the wrong terminal position AGM battery, and I needed to start the car to get the wheels mounted). Also just got the A/C recharged with Dye (to diagnose where the slow leak is coming from).
Short term future goals:
Detail
Oil Change
AGM or Optima Gel battery.
Coilovers & Alignment (lowering 1" to 1.5")
Bluetooth Receiver w/ 6 disc CD Changer Delete
HID Hi's, Low's and Fogs.
Medium Term Goals:
Paint touchups
Exhaust & Tune
Looking forward to Toyota/Lexus meets and Sunday drives!

What's up fellas? So a recent song made me want to purchase and restore a sc400. Classic car. I've don't the headlight restore, major engine work, now working on suspension. Then the mods can resume. Look forward to sharing.

Yes I am another noob
My name is Daryle I am 18 years old and just graduated high school. I live in sunny Vero Beach, Florida, and roughly two weeks ago I bought myself a 1993 Lexus SC400. I got it for a steal at $1600. She's black, has it's issues, but I will be remedying those as I go.

Hello CL names Matt from maryland after looking for a long time on wat car to buy I ended noticing the sc300's being a very sleek car and after some nice mods there just beautiful. I have been saving up for quiet a while working with my dad landscaping and ended up picking up this 93 gte swapped sc300. Has some nice mods but gonna be some time and money to where like to get it. Car was a Florida car before previous owner that did work with pro swap with tweak harness and just running 10lbs with safc2 do have big plans with the car it is an automatic but that would be last thing to do maybe when i like it to be where it at soon. Needs alignment, tires wheels, and coils asap then would like to get in black interior. Just replaced steering pump and just sitting on funds to come around.

Hi
Hey guys, name is Ivan. First time member. I drive a 1993 sc300. Auto with about 135, xxx miles. Great car and I love it. It's reliable, and comfy. It needs some cosmetic work as far as the interior, but it's coming together piece by piece.

Here she is...my new sc 400
After six months of nationwide searching and pretty much giving up this 1997 showed up in my backyard.
Better photos to come. sent her down to the mechanic for a deeper look underneath but two days of driving havebeen smooth. Interior in good shape. New front seats, dash intact. Bought rubber washers for the steering wheel fix (thank you CL). Also need to find a subwoofer. Exterior looks great. Mechanic said someone babied it...hope he's right.
First time I took it on the highway I tried to hold back a smile because seventeen year old car. No chance tho she was too much fun.

New to Club Lexus Forum
Hi. My name is Hank (Hank49). I am a retired Speech Pathologist, living in Georgia. In the previous four years I have purchased and rebuilt two MR2's. I found a great support group at MR2oc.com. I have no plans on selling either MR2, but the SC300 attracted my attention because it presents as a more suitable vehicle for longer trips, yet still very sporty, so I recently purchased a 1993, SC300. I will receive it after July 1st. I can't wait. I will post pictures when it arrives in July.
At this point I have no plans on modifying the SC300, however, I said the same thing before purchasing the first MR2 and ended up doing extensive rebuilds on both vehicles. So whether I modify it or not I hope this forum is as supportive as the MR2 site and look forward to being a member..

Hello everybody
I've been a lurker for some time. Coming from a 93 prelude and looking for a nice daily.
Trying to decide between an SC400 or a GS300.
You guys seem to have a really nice community here with lots of info.
Congrats on that and keep up the good work.
Hopefully will have a Lexus soon

Hey guys! My name is Alexis and i recently purchased a black 95 5 speed sc300.
she needs a little work, and I've decided I'm going to keep her clean, and am going to try not to lean on the jdm side.. i have a couple sun spots on my passenger door, and a few body dents behind the door... I don't plan on doing anything about that just yet... The clear coat is peeling on the drivers side hood. i recently learned that the hood is from a newer black sc400, so hopefully I can find one thats in good enough condition to throw on there... when we got her, the power steering rack bushings were gone and the passenger side boot was shredded and filled with water. we went to pick-n-pull, and pulled out a brand-new reman rack and dropped it in. got her some new wheels, and she drove fine for about a month. Last weekend, the belt tensioner decided to shred and throw my belt and my radiator cap busted, and I've actually only been driving her for about 3 days with all the new stuff.
I threw in a neochrome shifter ****, and though its not in yet, I do have a neochrome NRG steering wheel that I plan on installing soonish... My current goal, however is to clean up the engine, and engine bay area. ill look around for more pointers later, but i want it hella clean.
Im super excited and I love my car so much. She is definitely a step up from my 05 accord.
The first night I drover her
I can't say "SC", it often comes out at "Essie", thought would be a cute sticker

Hi
Hi my name is Matt, My wife and I were at an auction a while back and won a 1996 SC 400, Black with Lexus Chrome wheels, It seems to have every gadget and button that ever came with a car. even the steering column is electric. we took the car, that I now call a "rocket sled" down to the Lexus dealer and had them do a 600 point safety inspection on it as well as flush all the fluid systems on it. Four days later we picked it up and have already put 3k miles on it.
I can't believe how rare these cars are and how much fun they are to drive!!!!!
I have been snooping around this site and, I must say, it has already helped me understand the SC so much, thank you all very much

Pole Position
Nice find; welcome to Club Lexus and the infliction of owning a first gen SC coupe....!!!!
One obvious observation, though, is I believe your tail lights are 97+ so either the previous owner upgraded them or (worse) it got in an accident and 97+ tail lamps were installed..... Hopefully the former.

Hi guys! I just picked myself up a Platinum Metallic 1995 SC300 with 164k miles. Black interior is pretty clean with only one small split in the stitching on the back seat.
I had a 1996 LS400 that I got rid of due to missing a manual transmission... that will definitely be in the works for this car along with a turbo I'll be sure to keep you guys updated as I progress!
