Default IS250 to SC300?

I currently have an 07 IS250 which I got new, I had it since 2006 so its about 5 years old now. I am thinking of selling it and purchasing an SC300 turbo. Do you guys think it's a bad idea? What are some common problems with SC300s? Also, I would be pocketing the rest of the money so I would have a lot of money for repairs etc. I'm currently a student, so I do not drive too much, and I spend some time mostly summers and winter break in China, so it would mostly be for driving for fun and getting groceries.

What do you guys think?

You want to sell a 5-yr car to get a 20ish-yr car so that you can build it to do what your able to do with your current car

Why dont you just turbo your IS, with a turbo kit, Coilovers, wheels, etc. you would be done, and not have the headache of repairs first then mods which is going to add up to about the same as a new car i.e. ur IS

but if you really want the SC then I suggest that you find a really clean one or a one that is already turbo'd and really to go(espec to pay around 7+) and go with that

can you even turbo an IS250? I herd its not worth it because you'll get only ~300 hp might as well get a 350. I think an SC has more potential.

You have more potential with the SC in terms of performance and power if that's what you're looking to do vs trying to mod the 250, in which you already said, you may as well pick up the 350 if you wanted a faster 2IS.

sc300 is a cooler car but not worth it in the long run. you will have less problems if you stick with a newer car.

i cant even be weirded out by this if i tried... countless amounts of times i have gone from a new car back to older project cars... i say do it. if u have concidered it, that means ur heart isnt in the 2IS anymore(no hommo). when i even htink im loosing interest in a car i get rid of it. ink about it, u can always sell the sc and go back to a newer car if u regret it. ur not giving up ur first born, its a car! screw it!

Do want more speed? sell your IS250 and get the SC turbo.

if you had a IS350 .. I would tell you to NOT sell it. I really think IS250 is a waste of money and time because of its weak motor.

If you are in school... I would recommend a car that wont need you dishing out money on repairs. If you are starting to have problems with the IS, get rid of it. If you get an SC300 Turbo make sure it's built right and you wont have to throw more cash on it. Not only is it cash out of your pocket but you will be down a car until it gets fixed. There are reliable Turbo SC's out there just make sure you pick one of the few up. If you are 100% on owning an SC and going turbo you might be able to pick up a lower mileage SC that doesn't need any work and start collecting your turbo parts. (NA-T or GTE swap)
