id say go for it dude... just make sure the person doimg it knows what hes doing. u know, so that thing doesnt rip off at high speeds

I figure I could pair up with my friend Joey that owns 4N Motorsports and get it firmly mounted to the top of the car lol. Gonna have the hardest time figuring out the interior work if I do the ventilation idea

Let me see if I have this straight.

SC400 with a roof scoop.

Custom scoop, if you don't buy a crappy fiberglass one.
Headliner will need to be replaced.
Fill panel for sunroof. This is depending on if you are placing the scoop that far back.
Removal of A/C and all of its components, or else this is beyond pointless.
No power gain what so ever.
New small serpentine belt will be needed unless you are making a custom bracket and pulley.
Worse gas mileage due to wind and scoop creating drag. That's unless you are making custom plexiglass quarter window fillers with NACA ducts to pull the air back out of the car.

Think I got that all covered. This has to be the greatest idea since restitching a blown airbag with yarn.

I think a clip on moon roof visor with air diversion flap (Like what I have) would be a more practical solution.

I say go for it. Im all for people being different. Way the pros and cons for your particular situation and make your judgement based on that. I would also read up on "fluid dynamics" High / low pressure areas around the scoupe must be considered. A scoupe is presumably permanent, and you woukd want to get the functionality right.

If the scoop doesnt work out....looks like id have a solid top sc400 lol. I dont really plan on having the car stupid fast really. Mainly just a cruiser and a car to show off in town a bit or at a car show. Nobody has done the scoop...so I think ill be the first on the forums that ive seen so far. Not goin with a huge scoop for sure. Ill look around at styles and find what I like and come up with a game plan.

Sunroof assembly - 34lbs

Did some research and the AC parts are about 35 lbs

All you would have is 70lbs of savings and you would need to hack up the car to get these mods to function properly, which would cause you to add more weight back on. You could change stuff like the hood to a CF hood, switch out stock seats with light weight bucket seats, remove the spare tire, remove the sound proofing and all the interior, but it wont make the car seem much faster at all. I had a 92 Sc400 and its quick, but not "fast" really. These cars are ~3600lbs without a driver in them, 100lbs off will still leave you with a 3500lb ~225whp car.

If you really want to see results, look into a trans swap, engine swap, or engine mods.
