Get a better quote? That quote seems extremely excessive.

The issue is that I'm in Phoenix...all my tools are in Nebraska and my apartment complex won't allow us to work on our vehicles..All of my buddies live in apartment complexes too. UTI won't let me do a timing belt job because the work order states 6 hours of labor..So basically I'm stuck.

That is insane! $4,000 is way too much money. Your best bet would be to buy the parts yourself and find an independent mechanic.

I've been quoted for $200-$600 for the same work minus the LCA and fan clutch. The higher quote I got actually came from a local Toyota dealership that which came with all the parts.

Take it to MJZ performance in arizona .. his name is CArlos .. he deals with all kinds of 2jz swaps and maintence as well.

602-464-4167

In the 2nd option is to take it to Mexico and they will charge you like 300 bucks for everything. Make sure you bring all the parts with you.

3rd option PM me and, buy some tools.. I can possibly find you place to do the job

Buy the parts online and find a cheap mechanic on craigslist and rent his tools. The work isnt as bad as it sounds.

After shopping around this is what I've gotten so far..Arrowhead Lexus in Peoria (closest to me) quoted me $2354.63 for all the parts including LCAS for both side. Sewell quoted me $1580.95 and Pembroke Pines quoted me $1650.90

Arrowhead Lexus quoted me $1147.5 for labor and at $135 an hour which they charge, that is 8.5 hours of labor.

buy some basic tools at harbor freight or ill bring mine ( 150) buy timing belt from lexus, maybe water pump there or autozone up to your trust preference. after market LCAS , c hange climate control while at it and other items:

youll be under 700

I have a 95 sc300 with 140k miles a shot interior climate control stuck at 75 a few noticeable dents. I was just quoted 4k for timing and accessory belts both lcas water pump fan and fan clutch..should I even keep it? what would you do
doesnt make sense to spend what a cars value is on kbb in repairs.

edit and if you decide to scrap it, trade me fan shrouds first? ill give you broken tabbed one which you can ziptie and 15 bucks any time)

he is better off.. to buy the timming belt from toyota since it might be cheaper. Also buying from rockauto.com and using a discount code.
it only cost less than 34 dlls to get a timming belt.. under a 100 per LCA.. the ones made for a supra.

Or else drive down to Tijuana .. I got 2 buddies to help. Just buy us some beers and tacos and burritos lol....My sc300 has no motor because , I am building a 400whp na-t . Otherwise, I would go to help.
