SC300/400 owners ... are you still buying premium gas for your car?

Sorry to disagree, but.....
I have run my SC400 on 87 octane since I bought it new in 1994, over eighteen years ago. I have never had any pinging. It runs as well as it did the day I bought it. I get 23-25 MPG in town. YMMV.

Pointless...
It is pointless to continue to debate this, IMHO...There are some that will do what they have been doing no matter what is laid out in front of them. So why continue to cast your pearls...The way I see it, it is your car, (to no one in particular), so do what you want with it, to it, etc...
I'm done with this thread...

Sooo... why would anyone not run premium? It's recommended and it costs what, 3 or 4 dollars more at every fill up? What kind of tightwads are driving SC's that a few dollars per fill up is gonna break the bank? Sorry, not getting it.

Just chiming in, I only use 98RON in my cars (Soarer DD, GS300 and Soarer project car).
95RON in my DD gets about 50km less or so, but after what happened a few weeks ago I won't fill up at cheaper petrol stations anymore (non starter when warmed up... refuelled bit at a time with name brand and it's running like new).

ANother thing is to stay away from the ethanol gas. You will burn the gas alot faster. I was told that all Mobil and Exxon gas station don't use it at all in there gas. I put Exxon in my 94 sc400 and it will last me 3 weeks before I have to refill. When i put gas it will only last 1 maybe 2 weeks.
And yes, the expensive gas... My car is worth the good stuff.

try it out if you want to see for yourself. Fill up with gas that has ethanol zero out your trip meter, run it until your gas light comes on and write down the number. Then fill up at a gas station without ethanol zero out your trip meter run until the light comes on write down the number and see the difference. Th thing with ethanol gas is that it's cheaper to make, makes less emissions, but still costs about the same as none ethanol gas. Also if you haven't changed out your fuel delivery system the ethanol will coorode the lines from the inside.
