it will be expensive to get done right considering the welding,bodywork,paint,and custom headliner. you should take that 1000 bucks and spend it on performance
i love my sunroof considering both window regulators went out at the same time it really helped. i live in texas and open it every time i drive. even on ridiculous hot days. its really pleasant on a clear night on back roads cruising too with the moon shining in. i never want another car without a sunroof. but seems like your dead set so good luck with that.

I love threads like these.
Do not put some weird "plug" in the sunroof hole.
Do not use adhesive to fill the hole.
DO go out and buy a small 110v MIG welder. You can do all the body work you can stand with one.
The reason there are so many "Nay sayers" in here is that how many of you can weld?

If this was millerweldsdotcom then *Everybody would tell you to do it. And in different ways/techniques.
I might do the sunroof delete if I can't get a good glass piece for it.

When you say glass I assume you mean fiberglass. Im sure theres a welder/bodyguy out there that will do it for more like $600.00. Ill weigh the assembly and see what kind of perf. we gain.

i dont see the big deal, rip it out, take it to the body guy to weld in a piece and prep and paint, then take it to an interior place to get the whole headliner redone.
It may not be cheap unless you can do that stuff yourself, but its not difficult.
to me its really not worth it. I would replace the heavy glass with a lighter piece, its still functional and you'll get most of the weight savings.

nice hahah id say if its that big of a deal to you.... the owner of that car... then do it. im curious on the matter because i get cooked when its open unless im doin over 60. plus ive learned something new... they made hard top sc's.. cool anyway op do work son g/l

I have an apointment for my 93 SC4 to go in the bodyshop on Sept. 15 to have a peice of metal tack welded in and filled. Also the roof painted $500.00, it will be lighter and I love the looks of a hardtop coupe. Ill take before and after pics. and weigh the sunroof assembly.

Unless you really want to try and save weight, I'd say dont do it. But check this out. Tony @ UMS completely removed the sunroof on his Evo and put a huge sticker on the roof to cover the hole. Again this is a time attack car and its all about function vs looks.

Me - I can't imagine my world without a moonroof. I'd never even consider going back to a car that didn't have one. It'd be kinda like moding the power windows back to roll-up handle operators.
I remember how exited I was when I got my first car with a moonroof ('91 Integra coupe).
But, I'm sure there's a good reason for this mod. More power to you.
When you redo the headliner, are you going with the stock fabric or something more edgy?

Not everyone has an sc300 just for cruising, some people have them for track cars and removing useless things that weigh a ton is good.
Removing window motors is a lot of weight savings, so is removing the fold in mirror motor(soarer only).
