New member - Possible trade. NEED opinions!
Hey guys! my name is marco. im new to the forum and to toyotas! ive been drifting for 2 years in 240's but never got involved with toyota. always saw the 1uz 240's ripping it tho!!!
i have a guy that wants to trade me a 92 sc400 for my stock honda (daily). just wondering what the common opinion was about these cars (any common problems, part s availability, etc) the guys car is bone stock just like mine with 180k.
im a full time college student so i dont want to jump into something i dont know much about and be stuck with extra costs that arent needed
i really appreciate the help ahead of time guys! thanks!

Here is a list of some common problems..
Needles flicker or completely go out, but still work.
Popping door hinges, easy fix
Blackened LCD climate control, easy fix
Wore out bushings on the upper and lower, front and rear control arms, with steering rack bushings also, pretty lengthy too replace but doable.
Poor lighting for the headlights and no fogs for the pre 95 models, easy fix, upgrade to HIDS
Factory amp for NAK usually goes out to cause popping in the speakers.
Trunk shocks wear out to hold deck lid up
Strut and strut mounts wear out after about 50-100K miles, normal wear
Fuel pump relay goes out when gets hot, just hot wire it.
check out www.intellexiual.net for alot more info. An old site but has some good info. These are the things off my head.. Good luck and it will be an upgrade from the Honda.

Honestly, they're both pretty reliable cars. It depends on what you really want though. The Honda will be cheaper to own and fix, but at the end of the day, it's a Honda. (which isn't necessarily a bad thing)
The SC400 is a bit more high class and it makes a great GT cruiser. MPG will be a bit lower (18/23+) than the Honda. With that said, you gotta decide if the trade off is worth it for you. You said that you've been drifting 240's. If you already have a toy in your stable, I'd stick with the Honda because it's a better "point A -> point B car".
