Now back to modding the backing, we need to focus on the reverse light area. Since this is a 97 backing and a 95 lens the reverse light needs clocked off over half of it. I chose to make a cover from thin aluminum, break out some fabrication skills. Also I formed up a small piece to cover the other strip where I cut thru the backing. This will be filled with epoxy on the back side. After this is on I re-sprayed all the cut surfaces with silver paint.

Take the clear lens off of the 96 tail and cut it it up to glue in position, this will diffuse the light and hide the black shadow.

Finally, after about 500 together and apart assembles and you are sure they fit, you are ready to glue. I used stock Nissan glue, stretched it thin and inserted it in all the grooves. Push lights together and put them in oven for about 5-8 minutes on 225° , again this is a labor of love, work hard at this and they will go together like stock lights, rush it and you won’t be happy with the results.

For lighting they use a stock 97 harness with some LED bulbs in the top, otherwise they are just like stock tails, maintenance free.
Well that’s about it, I have a ton more pictures and lots more detail, just ask questions guys, I did a shortened DIY, I didn’t want the DIY to take as long as the tails did LOL.

Have you seen this on ebay for these. Not as nearly as nice as yours but same effect if you use that candy apple tint. Unique! but what does your rear deck lid look like or trunk photos plz.

Awesome DIY Scott; great solution using the clear diffuser from the 95-96 over the 97-00 reverse light section, I wasn't sure what you used for that- makes perfect sense. If only more posts in this forum were as educational and entertaining to read!
Now when you gonna get the rest of your car put together??
