i've always wondered this also. but i think your just going to get a lot of people telling you to try and get a sc300 instead of using your sc400....
i wouldnt think i would be any harder than a 1jz or 2jz gte swap...... just cheaper because the ge motors are cheap.
i'd do it, if i ever swapped out my 1uz and wanted power. people with sc300 are just lucky to have so much more "mod-ability" with their cars than us sc400 owners.

I'd say only if you can find an sc300 in a local yard and grab all of it- pretty much the front clip. Getting all the wiring, cluster, shifter, etc. It will make the swap far less painful. That being said, unless your SC4 is SUPER clean it's not worth it. Sell the 400 and pick up a 300.

(im lucky to be alive and anyone who's seen the car/or pics will tell you that God himself is the only reason im alive, not to mention mysteriously not even a scratch!).
truth is, after seeing the true side of club lexus here in fl, i wouldnt want to have it any other way or be a part of any other community. this is more than a car community, its a family. after everything thats happened this week i can officially tell you if it wasnt for clublexus and a certain member my situation would be in shambles and my dreams of building etc would be out the window. once again i love u all

I did na-t on my 93 SC400 i have a thread on here let me find it, it's not too bad specially if you have the complete swap pulled from the SC3 and going in the Sc400.
You just need to jump 3 wires at the body plugs and you are done.
You need SC3 radiator and hoses, SC300 cluster because the Rpm will 1k rpm off when the cluster says 7k rpm your are really at 6k rpm lol if you wanna keep the SC you will need to have the lines made from a hydrolic shop.
I love mine.

I was talking about A/c lines if you wanna keep the A/C you will need to make the SC400 lines fit the SC300 A/C Compressor.
I didn't care about A/C on mine i removed the lines that goes to the Evaporator box.
3 wires from the Engine harness to the body plugs will need to be jump and you are up and running.

Hate to bump an old thread but this is exactly what I'm in the middle of. I bought a full OBD1 GE motor and am dropping it into my OBD2 SC400.. My main concern is going OBD2 down to 1, I feel like there are going to be lots of issues with this. I will note I'm going with the GTE ECU mod and that emissions are not a concern in my state so that helps. Also, what are the 3 wires mentioned and is there anything you would do differently if you could go back and do it all over again? Any tricks or tips? Anything I should be grabbing at the salvage yard while I'm there this weekend? I already have the block, head, intake manifold, ac comp, alternator, wiring harness and GE ECU. I cant use the cluster since it's a GS nor do I want to, I love the extra little MPG things this one has.

I think the a/c lines will be the trickiest part if you are keeping that make sure to grab all that stuff off the sc3.
obd2 vs obd1 is only a few wires different that run to the obd2 connector, which you can leave. all the ecu's have the same plug 1uz and 2jzge from 92 to pretty much 97 (2 years into obd2). the body plug might need some attention but it sounds like they match up and just have to do the little wiring talked about above.
for the tt ecu mod, that is purely on the engine harness side of things, if you have an obd1 2jzge harness, you can easily do the tt ecu mod. where it plugs into the car is the body plugs which is the only thing you will have to address.
also you said gs300 motor, so you will need a rear sump oil pan setup to fit in the sc300, and probably motor mounts brackets from a sc300.
also the fusebox plugs may need some alteration between the 2 chassis they might be a little different unless you are using a sc300 engine harness then it should be more plug and play.
