Default Rally SC300 ideas?

Okay so I'm obsessed with rally racing. I find it to be the most fascinating motorsport on the planet and the 2 wheel drive classes in particular fascinate me. Now the first thing that comes to mind when I think SC300 Rally car is the obvious fact that our cars are pigs, but really if stripped down and lighter hood, trunk etc... that could be overcome fairly easily. Power is easy with 1JZ swaps. Any one else ever given this serious thought?

i am right there beside you. i also LOVE rally racing and my dad used to rally race in Poland, so i obsessively love it. i was also thinking about the whole sc300 rally idea but once i thought about it, its not the best car...its too long, doesn't look good when its high up even though it really doesn't matter about looks. i would rather get a smaller car. i would love it if i had those old school Audi Quattro's or the Lancia Delta's but those r very rare so IDK im still searching to make a rally car. (Maybe Datsun......hmmmmm)

The last thing that I think of when I see an SC is a rally racer...

ANY car can be made competitive for just about any form of racing as long as your pockets are deep enough.

That being said, you're probably better off getting a car more suited for the sport and building it on the side. Sure, it could be "unique" or "cool" but if you ever decide to race it more seriously, you'll end up jumping ship to another platform anyway.

haha On the plus side you'll be the first CL member to request the name "RallySC" and it kind of has a ring to it.

I know nothing about rally racing.... but don't you need awd for that to go up steeper hills and mud?

The first gen SC is a great road chassis but it's not really designed for offroad rallying. The wheelbase is very long for one thing and with today's modern AWD competitors it will probably be very limited as a RWD car. I believe most successful rally cars have short wheelbases.

A Celica All-Trac/GT4 or any used Subaru AWD with a 5-speed would be a much better car to start with. I think Dodge Neons have been campaigned in rally with some success as well. I'm just throwing out rally cars here that don't cost an arm and a leg.

Its a luxury sports coupe... its not quite the best platform for a rally car.

I have some of the pics saved on my computer but I barely use it anymore. I'm always on my iPhone. Whenever I go on it, I'll look for them unless someone else posts them before me.
