Is it like every double din head units will fit our car as long as we've got the install kit? I've purchased a pioneer AVIC-X920BT last night on amazon... I guess it should fit?

moving on - these double DIN head units you guys have - when did you get them and how much were they???

im asking cos there's an ebay vendor im looking at buying a unit off, it's the Alpine W407... BUT for certain reasons and certain things i've read - i worry that it's a dodgy seller... at this stage i can't trust them posting to me in austrlaia

can anybody HERE vouch for a shop called sonic electronix?

furthermore, can anybody let me know if i'm getting a decent US price? thanks and seriously i'm looking for someone to have my back on this one...

i've just read many many nightmare stories RE: sonic... i worry that it's indoaudio with a new name...

...if you remember who indoaudio are - you're an OG
It seems they do have a website, but that doesn't mean much these days.

Thanks.

I've used Sonic Electronix several times and each experience was excellent. The shipping was fast and the prices are great.

I got my Pioneer P4200DVD last April about three weeks after it came out for $405 shipped from Amazon.com. I also got the dash kit and wiring harness from them too since I get free two day shipping and they're an authorized Pioneer dealer. Last month, they had the new Pioneer P4300DVD(It's the same as mine except it suppors Pandora Radio for the iPhone) for $395. If you keep checking, the price will probably drop again. Here's a link to it: http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-AVH-P4...2606096&sr=1-1

Could you post the jpg of your Lexus splash screen? I'm going to need one.

Thanks!
Car Toys is a good shop. I used to go to the one near Irving Mall. They have every major brand.

Have anyone of you guys tried using the factory lexus stereo faceplate(once disassembled) as a screen cover? Seeing how i don't think screens can have detachable faces. Just a little thought because I would hate to be at the mall and have someone break into the car because the screen is visible.

Looks like all the install kits are the same, Metra Double Din kit.

I have the same kit installed on my system but I used the factory bracket cause the DD stereos are so heavy the metal brackets holds better.

Just about every major brand's double DIN headhunits should fit with the install kit. It's rare to seen anything that won't fit.

I've seen it done once, but I don't remember what the thread was called.

Would metra work for soarer as in right hand drive jdm soarer?

Oh and don't give me the "buy from authorized alpine dealer" lecture.

eBay alpine w407 = 348 aust dollars
That same unit to buy here in aust??

1540 aust dollars... Yep.

Someone on here has done a carputor before, but not sure who. I believe P.R.S.22 has done something different as well. I might as well add on a picture with my Alpine double din.

I ordered the double din Pioneer AVH-P3200DVD from Sonic Electronix in January and had no issues with them. Great customer service and fast shipping.

But your best bet is to call in you order. If you place it online you can add the SC300/400 double din dash kit (Metra 95-8157B) to your order for an additional $2.00 but there is no option for the SC300/400 wiring harness (Metra 70-8112). I called them before ordering mine and asked about the wiring harness. The rep checked his system and said he could include for an additional $2.00. He also priced matched Amazon on the head unit which was a couple dollars cheaper at the time but didn't include the dash kit or the wiring harness.
